Sad how talent almost innate, went from the Pinnacle of youthful success; both Doc and Straw fresh out of High School, talented beyond the pack of older yet higher round draftees....

throw Dykstra in the mix, and what was expected to be dominate, for yrs to come, was shit down the toilet in the blink of an eye...

I saw him on an episode of Center Stage with Michael Kay. Not sure of the date when they taped it but I was startled at his appearance. Although he sounded clear and was joking around, he looked "old" and had that similiar look that junkies would have...his face kinda drawn in and just kinda worn out.
It saddened me.
 
The latest from Strawberry. It's sad but you can't help a guy who has had a ton of chances but seems he doesn't want help. Like I had said if you have seen Gooden of late he looks like a complete junkie. I wouldn't be shocked at all to hear about his death in the near future. Just a guy who threw away all the talent in the world because being a junkie was more important to him.

Darryl Strawberry is very concerned about Dwight Gooden. Strawberry tells the Daily News: "He's a complete junkie-addict. I've been trying behind the scenes to talk to him and get him to go for help, but he won't listen. He thinks he can manipulate and BS his way through everything. His son called me to beg me to help his dad before he dies. … The condition Doc is in, it's bad, it's horrible. It's like cocaine poison. I feel like I've got to get it out there because nobody else is doing anything to help him, and it might be the only way to stop him."
 
...learned a long time ago, people are gonna do what they wanna do...nobody can change Doc except Doc.

oh yeah, I damn near forgot about that classic. JJ and Clapton opened one of his Chicago Crossroads Festival, the last year JJ was able to make it on stage, and damn was it a fine version live.........

Gotta' salute the Confederate Flag, and respect it, in this classic pic (on the front of the Skynrd video)....

...yup, luckily for Clapton, Cale's influence was far reaching, and made a lasting impression...and D. Allman had a lot to do with Clapton picking up the art of playing the slide.
