The man has priorities. We can't have city employees paying for their own sex changes like us common folk do.

Mayor Sam Adams wants the city of Portland's employee health insurance to cover sex changes and other treatments for transgender employees.

"I think it's fair, and it's common sense," Adams said in an interview with The Oregonian.

The mayor's proposal, if approved by the City Council next month when it's scheduled for a vote, would override a decision by a city committee that each year looks at the health benefits the city offers through its self-insurance fund.

A majority of that committee, a board made up of union representatives and managers from city government, voted to approve the expanded benefits for transgender employees. But the rules of the committee require a consensus vote to recommend a change.

Adams estimates the new benefits would cost the city about $32,000 a year, an estimated .08 percent increase.

San Francisco was the first city in the country in 2001 to offer employees these benefits.

You know what, I don't think I can work properly with this tiny asian cock of mine. I think the taxpayers should pay for it, since it is medically necessary.

I've been a man with a 12" cock trapped in a body with a smaller cock my entire life. I demand that the city pay for me to get the 12" cock that is the real me.

Are you saying you've had a big cock in you for a significant portion of your life?

I think cawk is the word of the week in the OT forum.

When I drink Sam Adams I often think of becoming a female and blowing dudes in the shitter

Hung Harry?! How have you been? Got those warts burned off? I hope not! They made you super girthy

If they have been deemed by a licensed psychologist & therapist that they have a gender identity issue, then why not? If you have other psychological disorders and there are treatments for it why not have them covered? Costly drugs & exotic treatments like electroshock are used on people who have clinical depression or schizophrenia.

Does the city hire many schizophrenics?

utter bullshit, what they want would be ridiculous if the budget was balanced. He wants to get his buddies sex change ops on the tax payers? Most private medical policies will not cover this.

Boy it sure seems to me that the $32,000 could be used for a better purpose.

I guess it all depends on if they gonna be hot after or not

What ever happened to good ol' fashioned cross dressing? If you feel like a chick, tuck it in and wear a skirt and makeup.

Hell yeah, get a little meat surprise, I hate when my trannys have vaginas

Luckily no one who's been employed at any job at anytime in history has ever been diagnosed with schizophrenia or clinical depression before, pheww! Close one...

That should probably change too. This is indeed a psychological issue & should probably be covered by private insurance. Most private insurance doesn't give a crap about your dental, vision or mental health though...

My only concern is, will this cut into Sam's brilliant plan for the bike plan?

So if an employee is suffering severe clinical depression because he can't support his lifestyle on his current salary, his health benefits should pay him an additional $2,500 per month because it would obviously cure his depression?

Yeah, I'm depressed if I don't bang hookers 3x a week. Pay for that shit. Otherwise I turn into a fucking weirdo!

I am embarrassed for the city I love. This guy is a total joke, and anyone who voted for him should be forced to fund the sex change plan.

Being in Texas now, I don't get to keep up as well as I'd like on all things Oregon. How is the Kitzhaber doing in his do-over?

If I can't get my dental implant covered by my insurance I'll be damned if my taxes should go to pay for a state worker's sex change!

It's a medical procedure. I don't see why it shouldn't be covered, just as any other agreed to by the doctor and his patient.

There's a difference between being sad because you don't have enough money to blow on drugs, hoes or video games versus someone who has serious clinical depression, bi-polar disorder or anxiety. If the person does have a compulsive disorder that is causing them to overspend then a therapist or psychologist might be able to help them.

Unfortunately many such medical procedures aren't covered.

Taking money away from the city sewers budget to fix city employees personal plumbing, and I mean personal.
