I don't understand the mindset where people think all procedures should be covered by insurance.
...save your money and pay for it yourself.
You seem to think someone just walks into the doctor and goes "I wanna be a women" and then the doctors goes "okay, we'll fit your surgery in on Tuesday".
How about we just call it "health insurance" & you pay for it monthly but it doesn't actually help you when you're ill. Why should it cover anything at all?
At one point health insurance didn't exist & eventually came into existence and someone somewhere decided that something was worth covering & how do you think it became covered? Because people asked for it or the people they asked about it said it was so & so they made it so.
-The Book of HMO 4:31
A lot of children can't save the money & pay for it themselves. I was one of those children. Was it because mom was out to lunch? Because our low income health coverage didn't cover optical very well or there was no one in our town who would take it? Was mom maybe a little out to lunch because she had head injuries, PTSD & depression from a traumatic childhood of her own? Maybe people like her shouldn't have had kids she couldn't take care of, but people with the conditions she has usually have foggy decision making skills that'll probably affect that child & continue the cycle. Perhaps the best solution is that we should just smother all the sick, ill or poor babies before they start sapping away all your hard earned, well deserved, money.

It was brought up before, but I have auto insurance and homeowners insurance. I don't submit to State Farm a bill for oil changes or for house paint. So why do we think health insurance should pay for upkeep?
I'm a believer that people shouldn't have kids they can't care for. Adoption is an underutilized option in this country.
You have ample time to post on the internet, and on multiple websites. Yes, I do as well, but the difference is, I'm not asking for handouts, because I've found my career/business niche, and I pay for things myself without my parents, who were never able to assist me financially.
Yet, I get to pay for charity cases like you, when I was a charity case of my own.
Right but if you pay for a maintenance warranty and you muffler breaks, then you'll go get a new muffler. Also most employer based insurance does cover check-ups. Some auto-insurance companies will give you roadside assistance for a flat tire, gas or jump start. Some credit card companies will pay your insurance on rental cars. Insurance is what we make it, all sorts of stuff can be covered...
Right, but the baby doesn't decide that do they now? Also adoption isn't cheap, foster care is probably more harmful & possibly more costly than letting the mother raise the child on welfare. There is also sex-ed worth a damn, but we had 8-years of "don't fuck because jesus will be angry with you" abstinence-only sex education.
There are tens of thousands of childless children who would love to adopt a child in the US, and demand outstrips supply.
Foster care is not optimal, but we only hear the horror stories. We never hear much about the success stores. For example, what about the 23 children Michele Bachmann took in under foster care?
And that insurance is more expensive. Sometimes, there are things you just can't afford. Do you ask others to pay for your car? Living within your means can be a bitch.
Life isn't always fair. By trying to make it so, you're cutting everyone down rather than allowing everyone to grow to their potential.
Why do you have car insurance or health insurance? Why are you asking other people to be burdened by the risks you present? Should there even be a society? Let's just dissolve this entire country & live in our own little plots of isolated land, little micro-countries where we have our own laws & luckily we don't have to worry about poor people trying to steal our money. No need to worry about socially funded programs like roads, police, fire, parks, libraries. Nothing good comes of the social collective so we should all go live isolated in our caves, lest someone molests us of our precious coins. Is it possible that there is collective good & that has nothing to do with people being lazy or trying to take your hard earned money dag-nabbit?
Not really... There are tons of poor people who, with assistance, go to great heights & there are plenty of rich kids who waste their lives & become deadbeats. No one has a valid way to discern who deserves to live a good life. Money is certainly a flawed measure of someone's actual worth to society, it can be gamed. Taking at face value is inaccurate. Assuming on the surface that someone who is rich or well off has gotten there because they have earned it is ill informed. Hitler was pretty rich... Hmm, so was Bernie Madoff... Hmmm... Why oh why are all these unwealthy people bringing us down?
So wealth is not an indicator of worthiness, just like being poor isn't an indicator that you're undeserving. Especially someone in their youth...
Does the city hire many schizophrenics?
Anybody here remember Renee Richards? He was a male tennis player who decided to get a sex change operation to play (and hopefully be more successful) on the women's tour. It created quite a stir. The USTA had to create a new event over it all- mixed singles.
