Oh, that's good.
Huh? Clearly we have different definitions of "making sense"
There was I thinking that I was motivated by issues rather than personalities. Oh the lies I've been telling myself!
I wasn't talking to you, but I think you know that. I think you just enjoy playing a troll.
Good job! If only you could have come out of it a happier person, but that might be asking too much.
Yep.....you definitely enjoy playing a troll.
I thought it was obvious that my point was that there are plenty of people who have been arrested despite following the law.
We're not talking about traffic tickets here, and I don't subscribe to the Leftist-made boogyman that every cop is out there looking for innocent people to arrest.
Here - you like logic, here's a useful distinction. My point was that being law-abiding was not sufficient for not being arrested.
Bullshit. Don't associate in bad areas or places, don't associate with questionable people, don't do drugs, don't draw attention to yourself, and obey the law. It's not hard to do. It REALLY isn't. Hell, I'm willing to bet probably 99% of the people who have ever signed up on this forum have managed to go through life by obeying the law and not having a negative encounter with the police outside of a questionable speeding ticket.
You've never been arrested, I've never been arrested.....why is this so hard for those few people in our society to accomplish?
I think laws should be just, and fairly enforced, and we should follow them.
Agreed.
I do happen to believe that we have a duty to resist laws that are flagrantly unjust
So do I. By writing to our politicians, campaigning, starting legal appeals, and fighting in court. Not by resisting arrest, soliciting sex in a public bathroom, fighting with the police, or rioting.
So we agree on that. I assume.
You seem to think that being "law-abiding" is what keeps a person out of jail.
It works for tens of millions of people across this country every day. In fact, it works for MOST of our population.
But it's certainly not sufficient, and it isn't even necessary if you're rich enough to get good lawyers.
Oh really? Tell that to Madoff, Martha Stewart, Tom Delay (avoided prison but still saw jail time and was still convicted of felony crimes), and numerous other people this past decade who have gone to prison (Ethan Couch's dad just went to prison as well).
I will give you that it is perhaps easier to avoid prison if you're rich, but crime is crime, and punishment is punishment. When that judge bangs his/hers gavel, you just become another inmate; regardless of how much cash you have.
incompetent defense lawyers/people with an interest in using your incarceration to their advantage.
I agree with you on these two issues: there are way too many incompetent defense lawyers out there, and too many prosecutors with axes to grind and political dreams to aspire to.
Like Marilyn Mosby.
