No I'm not talking about the great Hall & Oates song, I'm referring to the article in today's daily news that once Tiexeira returns Johnson will in al likelihood move back over to 3rd. And with Roberts at 2nd Solarte COULD be the odd man out.

Personally I'd rather see Johnson or Roberts be the platoon guys & leave Solarte in the line up. At least until he cools down which I hope will not happen.
 
The guy that needs to go is Cabral for last nights stunning performance, more likely to go down though would be Sizemore.

From what I'm hearing Cabral has been designated for assignment.

And by odd man out I didn't mean they'd send Solarte down just that he would become the guy off the bench. And if that happens it will only give me more reason not to be a fan of our manager.
 
Be just perfectly dumb not to play Solarte, I'd have to collar Joe G himself on that one. We got a younger kid to cheer for keep him on the field.
 
Would be typical yanks move. Let roberts be the super sub and solarte can play 2nd short and third

...but conversely, if Solarte does stay in the line up, would that give you a reason to be a fan of our manager?
 
I don't think Girardi is the issue Rick, I will always have a problem with Cashman and more the players he and FO gives Girardi.

My biggest problem with him is that he leaves pitchers in WAY to long. He'll wait until the starter gives up 5,6 & on several occassions even 7 runs before that low watt bulb in his head goes off that says "oops!, I think he's off tonight".

Last night is a prime example, #1 it shouldn't have taken Warren to give up 3 runs, 4 hits & a walk in less then an inning for clueless Joe to realize, this guy sucks tonight. Let me take him out while we're still in this game. And #2 It shouldn't have taken the umpire to do Joe's job & take Cabral out of the game. I mean c'mon 14 of 23 pitches out of the strike zone, a wild pitch & 3 hit batters, allowing 3 more runs without getting anyone out. I mean seriously. there is no way that inning should have gotten that much out of control.
 
Hey Joe 6 runs, Do you think he's still okay for more? My guess is, you'll leave him in.

Damn, did I call that one or what? So now after the Rays get 2nd & 3rd with nobody out in the bottom of the 5th the bulb in Joe's head goes off. And Nova is gone.

Nova's final line = 4 innings, 8 hits, 8 runs, and 4 home runs. Now....what was I saying about Joe keeping pitchers in to long?

I can't wait for Joe's post game report.

If its the usual one it'll be something like, "Well I think Nova had good stuff tonight he was just having trouble with his location". Wait....What?
 
...rick, not sure why you're patting yourself on the back...who exactly was he supposed to use instead?

... the Yanx had 3 freaking hits and scored 1 run, so what freaking difference would it have made?...pitchers get hammered sometimes, it happens...and the Yanx have more games to play. Do you think Joe would have been smarter to have burnt up the BP on a game they lost anyway?

Believe me Ron, I wish I was wrong about Girardi. I no longer finish typing the words, "The thing I hate about Girardi is that he leaves pitchers in to long" that he sure as shit does it again. But yeah, you're right, the offense was in a word pathetic. So here's hoping the bats come alive today & the bull pen can get there shit together.
 
This team has better players than last year, pathetic thing here is that they ley Longoria & the Rays rub their noses in pee in two consecutive games. If the players fail to do the job its not Girardis fault. In the case of the pen I did read articles that it was not "in place" and they did look flakey, Phelps was very lucky getting that strike out in the Boston Series. Never advised "head hunting" but if this staff doesn't show some sack and start some chin music on the Big Sloppis, Longorias, and Youngs it will be a long, long season.

Don't get me wrong Michael I'm far from putting this all on Girardi. My dislike for the guy aside you're right, pitchers need to start sending a message to the guys that kill them by backing them off the plate. A few of the balls Nova threw today probably looked like beach balls coming over the plate. And there's no way with this lineup that we get shut out or only score a run or two. Especially against no name pitchers.
