I've put some thought into this, and maybe this is what Joe , Jody , and Bert want most. Obviously I haven't been happy with the news that Dame requested a trade , due to Joe not being able to add veteran help at key positions like SF.

But the more I've thought about possible ways to make this work , the more things have become clear.

First off, Dame is a very special player , and no trade return that is available, will match his talent, and impact on the team the way he does. And no team that gives away a proper haul for him, will be as competitive afterwards. The Blazers should not except table scraps.

2nd, if Scoot is as special as many predict, he will excel next to Dame. They can be as good, or better than the tandems of Mitchell & Garland, and Young and Murray.

If this is plan , Joe & ownership really want , they have to look at getting that much needed size and defense at SF , and backup center.

This will be a no for some in here, but I think Masai Ujiri would trade OG for Shaedon Sharpe. Bringing home the native son, with flair and pizazz , will do that franchise good. I think Sharpe can be special, but it's not a given. He runs a little too hot and cold for my liking. I'm not feeling like the passion is there like it runs through Dame & Scoots veins for the game.

I'm all for the Dame & Scoot Era to begin. Inside and outside, their games can flourish. And when Dame rides into the sunset, Scoot will really be ready. This makes the most sense.

Joe still has to get things done. And I'm sure he's trying. But enough of try, DO! Get this done and alleviate the funk , basketball wise , that's riding over the city. It's there , and it's palpable .

I liked this post, I like the idea of Dame coming back and us kicking ass, but I dislike the Shaedon for OG idea. There has to be another way.

I know you wish Dame would adopt you friend, but this Scoot/Dame scenario will never come to fruition.

Dame wants out, does not want to be involved in any kind of role model/youth movement scenario, and tbh it is best for the long term future of the franchise if he does go.

I got over Dame leaving a long time ago; players come and go all the time, is what it is.

Small undersized backcourt has proven to be magnificent. You could be on to something

They could, but only if Dame is on board with it.

Naw I’m coo… I’d rather net the assets Dame will get us and use that to build around Scoot and Sharpe.. the Dame era has been played out latley. Besides he’s 35 in 2 years. The pandemic started longer than that…

Time for a new direction

Marcus Smart is louder than Jayson Tatum.

Don't dismiss Sharpe's demeanor. He is a quiet assasin. Go back to rookie Jokic if you see him as animated as Scoot. I hope Scoot exceeds his aura by his play, but just because Shae is a little shy doesn't mean he can't be great.

I will not trade Shae for OG. OG is RFA nxt summer with player option.

I agree OP. They could and very well may.

We may end up seeing this play out, at least for part of the season.

Trade Sharpe for OG?!?!?! WHAT DA FUQ?!?!!?!??! I stopped reading there because it was such a horrible take.

Or we can keep Sharpe and deal Dame to Toronto for OG and picks.
I mean I dunno maybe they have god tier picks, but honestly that's worse than Dame to MIA packages.

OG is so overrated on this board, I'd think everyone was hacked by Masai Ujiri. He's a slightly above average wing who is undersized for his position with a questionable injury history.

OG is better than any player Miami is giving up and is a much better fit with our team. Throw in multiple picks and I would absolutely consider it if OG would resign.

What's the chance of that happening ?

My bad. I forgot Sharpe was the second coming of Michael Jordan.

My bad. I forgot Sharpe was the second coming of Michael Jordan.

So when you watched Sharpe last year play as a 19-year-old, you were not impressed with his potential? He may or may not turn out to be special, but can we really take a chance on another Jermaine O'Neal blunder?

My bad. I forgot Sharpe was the second coming of Michael Jordan.
Nobody is saying that.

The truth is Sharpe could be better than Dame in two years when Dame is at the age of 35 and Sharpe is 22. He certainly SHOULD be better than Dame within 4 years.

OG doesn't make Dames time here worthwhile at the expense of Sharpe.

The ship has sailed. Bon voyage Dame.

My bad. I forgot Sharpe was the second coming of Michael Jordan.
He doesn't have to be the 2nd coming of Jordan to be vastly better than OG within 2 years, he just has to be a bit above average. By then Dame will be on the decline, in 4 years I would be astonished if Sharpe wasn't miles better than both. You need to get through the Kubler-Ross brother, you will be happier when you do.
