Scott Still Bitter About Nets Firing

THANK YOU. He was absolutely terrible...I remember people saying after games "Well, despite Byron's best efforts, the Nets won that game!" And I don't know how he can blame his assistants - he had some of the best assistant coaches in the league - one former NBA finals coach (Brian Hill), and two who went on to be successful coaches of their own teams (Eddie Jordan and Lawrence Frank). IIRC, the generally accepted story behind Scott's "success" is that he delegated the offense to Jordan, the defense to Frank, while he was just "game manager"

I haven't been following N.O. closely, but New Orleans has more younger talent than the Nets, but somehow the Nets are perennial in the playoffs while Byron has never reached the playoffs with the Hornets. In fact, last year, all his 3 assistants were in the playoffs! Hmm...

Byron's must have done something amazing in a past life, because his whole career, playing and coaching, he's been blessed with stellar point guards like Magic, Kidd, and Paul.

I think anyone who followed the Nets closely from 2000-2004 knows that's not true.

The Hornets front court is so tremendously better than the Nets front court that it is laughable to compare them. Chris Paul is playing at an even higher level than before and Nets fans know what a top flight PG can do for a team. Peja and Mo Pete provide competent starting wings.

The Hornets play team defense like Frank use to be able to get out of the Nets.

The on paper talent level is fine.

Scott has obviously improved as a coach from his days "supervising" and playing golf for the Nets.

I have been impressed with the team defense Scott has gotten the Hornets to play this season.
