During his show this morning he actually said he had been wrong in the past on many, many accounts regarding the Blazers. And, get this, he actually apologized to the city of Portland and Blazer fans as a whole.....went on to say what a great city we have, wonderful management and a "tremendous coach in Nate McMillan", yada, yada, yada............

He then went on to surmise that the Blazers made "a huge mistake in not drafting Kevin Durant"....and spend the remaining time on the subject gushing how Durant may end up becoming the best player - ever - in the NBA because "at 6' 10" he's, flat-out, unstoppable. He can do it all! Score inside and out, rebound, runs the court like a gazelle, hits 91% of his free throws...all while being skinnier than a rail. Imagine what he's gonna be like when he adds 25 lbs. to that stick frame!"

He concluded all that by remarking, "Sorry, Kobe. I love y'all like a brother. but Durant is the real deal, man. He's gonna kill you guys...and there's nobody on your team who's gonna stop him. Not you, not anyone." (although, he didn't stretch to say the Thunder were going to beat the Lakers in their series.)

Good ol' Stephen. ;)

Heh...my mind was wandering yesterday as I was shoveling my compost pile...and being around all that manure made me think of Steven A's draft day comments when we got Roy/LA. I was wondering where he had disappeared to and if he realized how dumb he had sounded when saying all that...now I guess I know.

hes right.... however lakers arent losing to the thunder.

durant is the 2nd best player behind lebron and its not close.

Bullshit. There is Lebron. Then there is the rest. Kobe, Carmello and Durant are all about the same impact on a team. You are splitting hairs at best when talking about differences between them.

I'm sick and tired of people who supported us taking Oden now jumping sides and trying to make themsekves look smart.

Yo, Steven A., what part of "stupid" don't you understand?

I haven't deviated from my position on the two. I think KD will always put up the better stats and achieve more personal awards. I also think GO will contribute more to a winning team than Durant ever will. Oden's impact won't be shown statistically, it will be defense, blocked shots, offensive rebounds and putbacks, the way it changes the way you attack our team and the way you have to defend it. With LMA owning the elbow and mid-range, with Batum sitting out on the corner three, with a penetrating PG in Miller and Bayless and a do-it-all player in Roy, with a healthy and in-shape GO you're going to have to pick your poison. And people think our defense is good now? It's a shell of what it will be with Oden.

Injuries happen. But looking at the two and forecasting which one would be more durable, I don't remember ANYONE saying Oden was injury-prone. I do, however, recall a lot of people saying Durant didn't have the build to survive in the league or the strength to keep from getting injured.

Revisionist history is fun!

Agreed. And Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade are on a tier between James and Kobe/Melo/Durant.

So Durant is tied for about fourth-best. Not bad, still.

I love how when somebody asserts something and then says "and it's not close" it usually means that the original point was shaky at best.

I thought MIXUM was done posting until next season.

Go Blazers

Maybe we should enact a rule, If the Blazers have a first pick again, and we could take a center, DONT! Take the other awesome guy.

The problem is, the Blazers were 100% right in both cases to take who they did.
