Sean Williams needs to be the first big off the bench.

Frank needs to give this guy minutes now and develop him as soon as possible. Even though he may struggle now, it will pay dividends once the post season comes along.</p>

He was the best bench big yesterday. Better than Mags, Allen, Boone. We still need Krstic's firepower, but Sean needs to be the first one off the bench, or start in place of Collins some games. I can see the value of Mags and Boone sometimes, but Allen needs to have his minutes cut and all given to Sean.</p>

Also what happened to Boki? Wright's starting to shine and Boki better get that shot in order or else he can't really bring much else to the table.</p>

Agreed. Rookie shotblockers have a tough time adjusting to the NBA game because they are really prone to silly fouls on defense. Its best to play him now so he wont make these mistakes later on in the season.</p>

Magloire looks lost on offense and Allen was supposed to be a less athletic Moore(at least imo with that jumpshot of his) but is currently failing. Boone looks so bad on both ends of the floor it's not funny. Until the rest pick up their games, Magloire, S.Williams, and nachbar should be the big man rotation(Nachbar at the3/4 spots only, Sean and Magloire 4/5 spots)</p>

Sure he rebounds and shoves people but what does he really have other than a longer playng career than what Sean couldn't offer us? Why wouldn't he be a better backup, a tested veteran, to backup a young kid who could have twice as much impact on a game on the nights he's adjusting and in foul trouble? I'm not trying to attack Big Cat or start an argument so please don't think that, i'm seriously just asking what makes you feel he should be the number one option off the bench let alone start especially when most teams are going smaller and more athletic off their bench and when Collins is so clearly needed to try and keep the opposing bigs man from getting in a goove early to keep us from being punsihed with an inside outside threat? I'm in no way saying he won't be useful but they way the NBA has shifted he's not a guy who can handle starters or athletic bench talent he's a role player maybe even moreso than Collins as he does the intagibles and is a far superior defender.
I know you like Sean as well so I fell you're tying to defned Magliore and I undertand why because he can be useful but I really fail to see how Sean being in the position he was last night, the guy they put in when all else fails, is gonna benefit this team in the long run. I know a rookie shouldn't be judged by what he does in garbage minutes nor should he just be handed them but he gives us a dimension that could arguably keep us from getting us in holes like the one we were in last night.</p>

Frank made alot of personell flubs last night and I will chalk that up to still trying to figure out the rotation but simple things like Big Cat on Bosh/Bargnani is just plain retarded, as is putting Sean right on Bosh instead of having him help defend from the weak side as he could use his length and athleticism Bargani on the midrange/perimiter and be better suited to selectively rotate in and challenge an attempt by Bosh if he beats his man. I get that ideally Frank thought putting in another big to rough up Bosh would continue to work to our advantage but last night showed just how much of an asset Collins is as he can do it unlike any other big outside of KG and Sheed can.</p>

I think you guys have to look at it on a situation-to-situation basis. Magloire clearly was ineffective against the Raps' and was a liability against a big like Bargnani (same applies to Malik). Against an faster paced team that likes to spread the floor, neither of those should be getting huge minutes. However, they still bring a lot of experience and much better rebounding and that would make them important pieces against slower offenses or ones with particularly weak frontcourts.</p>

I think we need to find out what his role will be before we give or take any away from him but that doesn't mean we just shove him out there as we have numerous options to also figure out where they can help us as well. Clearly he doesn't work against Toronto and now we know that so we mark that down and try and put him in situations to succeed as well. The Nets are a team who needs to capatalize off of matchups and not give too many back to the other team and if we can;t figure out how to fit him in we need to have backups instead. It's only the second game and I know i've pushed for Sean in a couple posts now but at the same time I do want to see different lineups unlike the past two games where the only change was Allen in before Boone so we can get this out f the way now and not just trot guys out there like Big Cat if it's not a good matchup.</p>

Yeah, judging players after a couple games is wrong. I just feel like Sean has the potential to contribute significantly, but only if he's given playing time early on in the season to mature. Magloire will get his minutes, but should play significant minutes only when he's matched up correctly (ie. probably not Toronto).</p>

I haven't been able to watch much yet this season, but the team looked good with Sean in there on Friday, no matter how raw he was. It'll hopefully eventually become evident to Frank that they work together better with Williams at PF.</p>

we all know frank isnt a rookie lover, but you KNOW the impact the kid can have. people related his skills to kenyon martin because he has the athletic ability to do what kenyon did. now yes, in order to be effective you need to know the D system and learn the league, so once you feel he has a good enough grasp on teh D system PUT HIM IN! frank doesnt need to play him 20 minutes, put him in for 4minutes at the end of the quarter or something.</p>

what i think frank should do, could do, is play sean with twin. we all know frank loves twin and twin is franks saftey net (that is why twin will not be moved out of the starting lineup unless he is traded). with twin in you have stability in your backcourt and then you have sean who can float a little and try to make a play. yeah i saw the clip where frank told sean he made a great play but he wasnt where he was supposed to be, that is the problem right now. frank knows the kid can sky and block shots, the players have praise sean as doing so, but frank just cant trust himself to trust sean. so put your favorite big man twin in there with the rook for a little bit and test it out. you dont need to play him during crunch time, but what harm could happen? we are giving up points with every other big man in there, the one big man who can consistantly provide shot blocking cannot hurt us more. if he blows a few plays then call a TO and take him out, but let him try and help us frank! play twin w/sean!!!</p>

It's not that Cat isn't in shape, but he's got some work ahead of him. Mikki Moore's jumper looked like garbage until he got the start. Cat needs a little confidence and alot of J-Kidd. When we decide to play through Cat in the post, he'll be a revelation. Until he can proove to Frank that he's legit, he's not gonna be spoonfed. JMO.

Aright, first off, L - Magloire is nothing like Moore, haha. Magloire's a bruiser, not very athletic, not fast, no jumper, okay shotblocker, and a good rebounder. Mikki is a fast, pretty athletic hustler player, he can knock down the shot, but ain't that great at defense.</p>

I don't believe Sean should necessarily be the 1st big off the bench, tho, maybe the 2nd or 3rd. But i do believe that if he is doing good, he deserves more minutes for his hard work.</p>

I'm a bit torn. I want Sean Williams to get out there, but I'm also against having a rotation without justifiable stability. Every player has good and bad days, and although I'd want to light a fire under the guys, it seems a bit "Isiah Thomas" to change things up after only three days. Look at Malik Allen, he went from total bum to impact player in the span of one game. It'd be a bit extreme to give up on some guys already. Magloire's been pretty foul prone, but he can offer so much to this team that to treat these past 3 games as a sign of what will always come seems like a big mistake.</p>
