Its pretty boring, the people seem a lot ruder than Portland. I mean if you're rich as fuck, its probably pretty comfy and they pay well, but most of the suburbs out there seem like hell and boring crap.

Traffic is pretty bad, 1000s of people crowding into parking garages to get to Nordstrom Rack, etc. What's the appeal? No state income tax is nice, but it seems like a bunch of fucking zombies that live out thurr. :MARIS61:

I like most of LA. I just found some of the stuff you mentioned to be worse in LA than in Seattle.

Been to Red Mill, it was pretty good.

The downside from Portland is housing is more expensive, cocktails are more expensive, and parking is more expensive. The transit system sucks overall. No Blazers.

The draw is you are near the water, there is a whole lot more going on in Seattle than Portland, there are a lot more outdoor opportunities (I think); a lot more parks; actual neighborhoods instead of sprawl without distinct neighborhoods; great views; I think the restaurants are great. Sports Radio is a lot better here too.

Yeah, I only hate Seattle sports. The city is fine.

That's weird. I don't understand hate for other cities based on where one lives.

I also don't understand why people don't like other people that go to a college that they are rivals with (I.E. Oregon/Oregon State)... makes no sense. They didn't go to that school because of the football team unless they are on the football team.

One big thing the NCAA forgets is that it's about an education. And sometimes the fans forget that. I'm surprised more people don't boycott the NCAA athletics. It's a joke and they shouldn't be making this much money. Now their priorities are all fucked up.

But that's a whole nother rant.

Back on topic: I like both cities.

Like I said above, I moved away from there a long time ago, but:
The best Chinese food I found was the Golden Wok on Dash Point Road in Federal Way.
The best Italian I found was at Gianni's in Everett on Evergreen Way.
The best seafood was at the Lobster House, but I think I heard it closed.
For not-too-expensive family food, Antony's Homeport was good. (Try the seafood fettuccini.)
Best Mexican is Las Margaritas on Hwy 99 and in Kirkland.

When I left Seattle it was rated worst in the country for traffic. (I think Boston was close.)

The thing with Seattle traffic is the drivers are fucking morons. Portland drivers are horrible too, but the traffic isn't as bad because of less people.


In LA, they're aggressive assholes, but it works a little better, there are just way more people in bottlenecks.

I thought the N-S bus routes were excellent, from the HOV lanes that got you there quickly to the free bus rides in downtown.

I've found Tom Douglas restaurants, overall, overrated. I've been to Dahlia, Serious Pie and Lola.

I do like Ivar's though.
