Yep, and here is where I break ranks with conservative view. As despicable as abortion is, I think it has it's place. As much as I would like to take the libertarian way, I do not think people should be a liberty to have children just because they can. Marriage and the strictures of society not so long ago had a place and since we have lost that damper on reproduction placed on people by the church and society, I think we need the state to do the job. Imagine that! Marriage was a license to have children not so long ago, and people no longer follow that view. So the State should require a license to have children, a marriage license or a reproduction license. If a woman shows up at any clinic Doctors office, Hospital, or Planned Parent hood facility pregnant, without the license, she must get it now or off to the abortion clinic. The state should only issue this license to the women that have the means of support, to adequately care for the child. If the marriage route is taken late in the cycle, then the father and the mother must show the means of support to take care of the child.

I doubt this will become law, but it is the way I "feel" and I think it is logical. I hate seeing children not adequately taken care of because they lack caring parents with the means.

you and me both...not only do I think the bar needs to raised for parenting, but for marriage as well...it's harder to get a liquor license than a marriage license..I also advocate for life skills education starting early...financial planning, child raising, career choices, etc....the children should be better prepared to deal with life after school than maybe their apathetic parents allow them to be. I worked with thousands of students and parents...seen both extremes
