That may have been the end of the season right there. This team can look so good one minute and suck so hard the next. Meaningful change - embrace it!!!

Can we still make it? Not sure how that play in works? Do they play like one game or like best of 3?

Maybe 9th. Doubtful.

8th seed only has to win 1, 9th seed 2 game

Horrible loss, but, tbh, this team hasn't really had it. Struggling with the Nuggets playing with one hand tied behind their backs the other night was a big red flag.

We just don't play smart. We either lack killer instinct or we don't have the talent I thought we did. We don't play defense. We don't get to the foul line. I had high hopes for Ant and Zach but now I'd be willing to unload both in the offseason.

I'm indifferent on whether this team gets to the 8-9 play-in or not. It's just really disappointing to watch them too much of the time. Exciting, but you always leave thinking there was something missing.
That’s it in a nutshell. You can’t rely on scoring 125 a game night in and night out. There’s gonna be times when shots aren’t dropping (like the second half of this game) where a decent defense can still help to get you a win. This team is abysmal on that end of the court. TNT crew interviewed Stotts after the third quarter and asked if his team needs to play better defense... his response told me all I needed to know. He said something like “Both teams are playing really good offence” and deflected from the actual question asked. This team will never compete with the big dogs of the NBA until they bring in a different coach.

There is bad and then there is this. Blazers had a chance to control their own destiny and they fumbled it. The offensive and defensive possessions in the last few minutes of the game were embarrassing. This team needs more than 4 guys that can contribute.

We can still get 8th if we win all 3 and Memphis wins no more than one.

go Heat!!

We missed Whiteside.

I am in disbelief as to how that all ended but what puzzles me more than anything is why we aren't running the Dame/Nurk pick and roll throughout these games. It's our most effective play and we just don't use it. I wish we would blow this team up. Keep Dame, Nurk and Gary then get rid of everyone else including our coach and GM but I really don't see that happening. I know next season we will end up with a mid seed in the playoffs if we just keep this team together but we won't be anywhere close to a championship and that's got to be the goal when you have guys like Dame, Nurk and an emerging Gary Trent Jr.

Man! CJ went from hero to goat after those 2 knucklehead fouls. I was already to dog out the CJ dislikers, but then he just got a huge case of Headupcha. That was the key turning point. Up 5 and then we fell apart. CJ has to do better. Dame was letting CJ take control because he was gassed. It happens to the best.

Yeah Dame choked, but it was the 6 missed layins throughout the game that cost them. Brutal.

Doc giving the game to the Blazers resting George in the final 5mins and we fumbled. Ugh

I think Stotts is an average head coach and a top-notch/elite assistant. I don't know if the Blazers can take the next step with him at the top, but, tbf, I don't know if we're deep enough to take the next step, either, and I'm not sure if that problem is addressable.

It would have been interesting to see this team if Hood had been able to come back, too.

Well that was a joke of a finish, except it wasn’t a very funny one.

on to champions league

Did ya hear Paul George though?!

they asked Paul George why he sat the last 5 min, He tried holding in his smile and said load management

If we are the ninth place team we will have to win two in a row and if we somehow are the eighth place team we will only have to win one out of two. Before everyone was sitting I had this game as a loss and still thought we would end up with the eighth seed but the way we lost this game was very disheartening.

Bright side is that two games means more Blazers basketball :)

Gotta keep playing in this league whomever happens to be on the court.

Marcus Morris kills us. It's funny because when i see the Clippers i don't fear George and Leonard. Yes they're great players, but it's guys like Morris, who can poop his pants left and right against other teams, then is a dead eye dick against us. Scored 37 against us when he was with Detroit. JaMychal Green killed us as well. Dude don't miss open 3's.

after nearly 5 months off, and only playing one of the exhibition games, Dame's minutes in the 4 games before today:

45 - 44 - 40 - 41

then 39 in an early game. Oh, and game 2 of a back-2-back tomorrow.

meanwhile, the Clippers are practicing full 'load management' and still winning games, even against a determined team like Portland. The Blazers dug a giant hole and jumped into it in the first 66 games. Climbing out of that hole was always going to be a chore. But they sure didn't need to keep digging deeper today

Stotts has to find a way to wins some of these games without grinding Lillard into the floor

****************************************

I watched that game and agreed with Stotts: there wasn't a real role for Zach Collins, and that points out a big issue with Zach. He doesn't do enough things well to have an impact game after game. I'm not sure he ever will

and we can't expect Trent to keep shooting 65% on three's. The bricks are coming and a few arrived today

Nurkic missing easy shots like crazy doesn't help too. It's like his touch is back to 17/18 Nurkic. He needs to improve that shit
Yes he missed lots of layups off the glass too many even against rockets him and zach missed 20 bunnies.

Quite honestly they haven’t looked that good this bubble. They barley beat Memphis. It took OT. Got down huge against Boston in which celtics took their foot off the gas and rightfully took over again and win it. Barley even beat a B squad Denver team running on a back to back. Then lost to a short handed clippers team in which Paul George practically admitted they tried to hand the Blazers the game.

quite frankly thank god. I don’t want Lebron and AD embarrassing us

This game was a tribute to how poorly our roster is constructed. I wouldn't blame Dame if he refused to play tomorrow based on fatigue.

We scored 42 pts in the second half after dropping 75 in the first.
