wow, aren't you now trying to tell me what I can post and what I can't? I will use "we" anytime I feel like it when talking about a team I root for as many other people do as well. I just tell it as I see it and feel free to not read my posts if it upsets you so much. I never said things are all rosy, and I never said no changes need to be made and that had absolutely nothing to do with what I posted earlier. No changes can be made now anyway so it's extremely premature to worry about that at this stage.
That's exactly what I decided Cup. Just today I decided that regardless of what I want this roster to look like it makes no sense to discuss it at this point. So no one will see anything from me about personnel decisions regarding players, coaches or front office again, until this season is over for our team. I'm just going to talk about effort, tactics and execution because that's all that the team can control right now.

I like this line of thinking. That's the way it should be. Worry about offseason in the offseason.

I just want to see stotts fired. It seems like he will be blazers coach till he dies. Im sick abd tired of his weak pathetic demeanor. Terrible coach

What about when we beat Lakers on Kobe night?

LOL...WOW!!

in the last 40 years the Lakers have won 10 championships, Blazers 0, but it doesn't matter because Portland beat the Lakers on Kobe night

I must say CJ might be worst defender in nba history. I have 2 wishes. Fire stots and trade CJ

WTF?

plenty of us like to think about and discuss the off-season, during the season. We like to think about and discuss the draft during the season too, and if it's a lottery team, we start cogitating lottery odds. We think about expiring contracts on players we want, and for the players we'd like to see elsewhere. We think about and discuss the playoffs during the regular season; we don't wait till the playoffs start. We think about and guess next season's salary cap well before it's set. And we actually think about the next season during the off-season. How stupid would it be to say "let's just stick to off-season topics and talk about the season when it's here"...then why is the inverse of that some kind of principle?

you guys who want to compartmentalize go right ahead. But quit trying to use that mindset as a way to criticize discussion about future events and future possibilities. That's part of the S2 entertainment too

I mean hell....nobody better post a game thread until the game starts....don't want to get ahead of ourselves!

So I can't be happy until the Blazers win 10 championships?

He's actually a decent defender who played good D on PG13 in last year's playoffs.

did I say that?
You used the 10 to 0 stat to basically nullify any enjoyment I get from the team. Well, if we win the title this year, you could continue to use that stat as 10 to 1. It's an argument that basically says no matter what the Blazers do, we can't be happy.

lol...no I wasn't

you were going after a poster who was complaining about Portland not beating elite teams, among other things

you used Portland beating LA on Kobe night as something to be happy about. Great, be happy, although I don't even remember it as an accomplishment. I'm suggesting that Laker fans have a lot more reason to deal with a loss like that than Blazer fans might. 10 of them in the last 40 years in fact.

It was a great win. First Lakers home game after Kobe died. Everyone assumed Lakers would win. Dame said no and put on a show. Blazers win. Best game of the year.

Check the calender. This is supposed to be the off-season. We should be discussing our new rookie. We should be discussing free agency/possible trades. We should be discussing our prospects for the 20-21 season. Even with Covid, we should (at worst) be deep in the 19-20 play-offs.

Instead, we are dicking around with the Silver memorial goat rodeo. All this BS - just so the Pelicans could get just one more chance to get the 8th seed. Do I sound bitter and frustrated? Good! (because that's what I am)

FWIW - I refuse to brag about that game for one reason - we lost (badly) in the first game after Mo Lucas died. It is hardly a random coincidence that in both cases the team in mourning lost!

But this isn't the offseason. And Covid-19 isn't Silver's fault. And they were giving 6 teams a chance to make the playoffs, not just the Pelicans. I wrote Silver a letter and came through for me. Don't be bitter during basketball? Don't you like watching basketball?

How should we be deep in the playoffs too? They needed to do it as slow as they did and then there had to be 8 real games to gear up for playoff intensity.

But what about when we win? What about when we beat Lakers on Kobe night? What about when we won Game 7 on the road? You trash the team anytime anything goes wrong and seem to forgot all the great things they've done. Let PG13 have his fun. Dame waved goodbye to him when it mattered.

Stop. The greats show up when it matters

I've been studying last year's playoffs. In 16 games, Dame only hit all his FTs five times.

Also- studying how we play when another team makes fun of us (as happened in Game 3 in OKC). We bounced back the next game and won by 13.

I don't recall everyone thinking they would win. I knew from the outset they would be over emotional and we could take that one.

We were up 5 with just over a minute left. CJ refused to pass to an open Gary Trent Jr. He passed the ball the opposite way and it ended in a turnover. The Clipper fast breaked and CJ fouled. He is a terrible defender and is selfish. I agree he and Lillard are redundant because they both need the ball.

Dame took many threes in a game he was COLD in, he took that last contested three while Carmelo and Trent were open.
Dame missed both those free throws.

I'm used to the CJ shaming around here, but this game is on Dame.

Love them both.

I watched the replay last night expecting the absolute worst judging by the comments. I'm still feeling pretty good about the Blazers despite the tough loss. The offense looks light years better than earlier this year. Guys are cutting to the hoop and being fed. All five guys are touching the basketball and the ball is moving. The shots look less contested and generally cleaner. I mean, this sounds like basic stuff and nothing to applaud, but compared to the garbage thru March, this is Hoosiers basketball. Aside from the usual culprit - defense - it looks like our lack of depth is hurting us the most when we match up with good teams. Ariza and Hood would have been nice to have. Always a game of what if with the Blazers. Cie la vie.

This game may have cost them the Playoffs. They may still get to the play-in game now but they had a legit shot at getting the #8 spot and only having to win 1 game in the Play-In. Now they are 1.5 games back with 3 to play and PHX is only a 1/2 game behind the Blazers. Also, Dame/Nurk were gassed playing so many minutes against some of the 2nd and 3rd string of the Clips. Wonder how much they will have left today? Yesterday's nonsense could cost them 2 games.

If you can't beat a Clips team minus 2 of their best defenders, their best player, and then against the scrubs down the stretch when you had a 5 point lead,.....I'm just not sure what to expect.

Maybe we should check the thread title. We have lots of threads regarding trades, free agency and draft. Shouldn't that be where it should be discussed?

Standings will be determined by winning percentage as teams will end up playing different number of games. In theory, two teams can be tied in games behind but have a different winning percentage.
