Yes, but you keep hammering on this same kind of thing over and over and over. You rarely post on Blazer related topics anymore and really only show up to argue about women/men. Even your avatar is a weak attempt to troll the men on this board. Why are you so insecure about your sex that you feel the need to constantly defend it?
OP mentioned that others have called her that, as well as stating that it was controversial. You may not mean it thusly, but it's really insulting to call Griner a man playing among women. She is a superstar college woman playing against other college women. She'll be a superstar pro playing among very good pros. It's like, if you're really really good, you have to be "a man".
Not quite sure how that's relevant to anything being discussed, but nice jab.You could say, without any argument, that the women are better educated; nearly all complete 4 years. A rarity among men.
Rather telling that you're more upset or irritated by crandc defending women and pointing out problematic statements than you are by those very same problematic and sexist statements.
I would wager, though a guess, she doesn't show up to post very much anymore for the same reason many women don't post on sports boards: It isn't a very welcoming or safe place for women. We get to hear sexist comments all day outside the internet, why come to read them when we just want to talk basketball instead of reading those comments and educating you? Especially since the first ten times education is tried hardly any of the people making problematic/sexist comments stop. Just continues, continues, continues. It is all rather exhausting.
It is the same for most other minorities/marginalized groups. There are so few on sports boards, in particular on ones with very lax rules about how to treat others. Do you think that is because there are just so few, for example, gay sports fans in general? I think there's only three of us that are out here, and two of us don't post very much anymore. It isn't because we don't like talking sports. I think there are only three women here too, and none of us post much anymore either.
It's because people who hateful and hurtful comments are directed towards get tired of other people being more upset that those comments and people are called out and told they're being problematic/sexist/racist/homophobic, rather than you know being upset or offended at the people making those comments, or the comments themselves.
Though the idea of her being 'insecure' about her sex is laughable. If crandc is considered insecure and defensive for trying to make this place more respectful towards women, then I'm terrified what that makes people who sit idly by while sexist behavior and comments continue (yet call out people who are trying to fix it, instead of calling out those who partake in it).
Her point about being called a man being good in almost every case (except of course when society says a woman 'looks like a man) and being called a woman is bad in almost every case? True.
Be a man.
Grow some balls.
Man up.
Act like a man.
You're not man enough.
What are you, a pussy?
Little bitch.
Fucking vagina.
Crying like a little girl.
Stupid ****.
God, such a fucking girl.
Stop acting like a god damn woman, be a man!
But hey, crandc pointing out problematic thoughts and comments (even when they aren't as direct as the above, those they carry the same weight and lead those those more severe and direct statements) is the problem. She's being too 'sensitive', of course. Too defensive.
a girl could play in the nba if she was a insane outside shooter, not sure who she would guard though

not whether some guy is an asshole for making a statement about that player being similar to a man among women.
These type of comparisons are a joke. Chris Johnson can't get his ass off the bench in the NBA....... you put him in the WNBA and he is putting up Wilt Chamberlain type #s. Lock this thread down!

Although she is 6'8", if you look at her, she's strong but quite slender. Look at the men of that height in the NBA and they are much broader through the shoulders and much heavier overall. So she'd have trouble in a game situation not getting pushed around. That is not to say she is an inferior player; but in basketball size and weight does count. A slender light man who was very tall would have trouble as well (think Shawn Bradley). I think a woman could compete in baseball, for example, where short and slender players have done extremely well - think 5'9" Rickey Henderson.
In a game of HORSE, I think the women could compete with the men. A shooting competition without someone who outweighs by 50 lb shoving them.
I will bet she'll have a better pro career than Felton. Or, sadly, Oden. But she still has another year of college eligibility and plans to return for her senior season.
You could say, without any argument, that the women are better educated; nearly all complete 4 years. A rarity among men.
she could be a practice squad player and provide other assistance to the team.
A) I'm tired of people having such sensitive feelings and crying about being PC
You know what I'm tired of? Suggestions that we up our language and speak more intelligently and civilized that are met with whining and pissing and moaning by the over-sensitive "Everything's PC now" crowd. Anyone asking anyone else to put in a little effort in how they dress their language is met with fierce resistance.
I feel like the "everything is PC now" reply is a little like "Everyone is wearing pants now." Well, yes, we are... it's not daycare anymore.
Grow. Up.
^Kevin?
She is the best female basketball player I've ever seen.
Great.... that's like being the hottest ugly chic!
