Remember him? Well, he played well in the D-League last season, and is continuing his good play this year.
We're overloaded at the swing position, I know (especially until we trade Henderson), but I was thinking more about taking Tim Frazier's spot in the rotation (not that he's really IN the rotation, I know) because the trouble with Tim is that you can't really play him next to CJ or Lillard without getting totally overpowered, whereas Elliot is 6'5" and a good defender. Plus, we sort of owe him:

September 2012: A torn Achilles suffered during a voluntary offseason workout in Portland, when he reached for a steal and his knee gave out. “That’s the toughest one. By far,” Williams said in the concourse of Fort Wayne’s Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

Two healthy seasons later, he can detail the injuries with the numbness of a surgeon. “It’s not the pain” that makes them difficult, he explained. “It’s the process. … You can’t do anything to speed it up. You’ve just got to rest.”

The injuries have relegated Williams to the fringes of the NBA where many of the Development League’s near-300 players lie.

Haven't watched a video of him in years. Funny that a guy that can dunk like in this video (good for a normal person) looks like an old man compared to what I remember. I'll have to see if I can find an old video to compare it to.

He lands and puts his hands on the floor because he doesn't trust his legs.

Just watch a McDonald's All American mix on youtube. He put his hands on the floor then too.

Hell yeah. I was a huge fan of EWill901503 when he was here. It was too bad he was constantly plagued by injury because that dude could get up and fly.

I love Ewill, too.

I watch many of the Santa Cruz Warriors game. The guy has it. Maybe not the athleticism he once had, but that's to be expected.

He'll continue to get shots. Would welcome him back to the team with open arms.

He's a great slasher... I don't know why we don't? He'd be great off our bench.

When he played for New Orleans, I really liked his willingness to pass the ball and dish out assists.

Being a forward, he would replace Connie or Montero. We need the 3rd PG.

The 76ers let him go. If he was so good he would still be in the NBA. If this guy didn't get drafted by the Blazers his name probably wouldn't even come up.

What if he was TOO good for the 76ers?

Think about it.

Let's see if Alaa Abdelnaby wants to come play some 3string PF. I hear he's still ballin overseas.

Like we have any time time or space for guards right now.

No its about fans falling in love with players and not being able to let go.

Question: Have you actually WATCHED Elliot Williams since he left? It's not like he's posting 1.0 PPG, with 0.8 assists in 1 minute of play.

I ask you to learn, but in that same vein, I have yet to learn that you don't learn.

I always liked EWill...he's a guy I'd welcome back to Portland..not sure if this is that season though

Watched most of the game from your link and between my eyes and the opposing team's announcers comments, it doesn't seem he's long for the D League. He looks really confident in his jumper and impressed me in how he can pull up off the dribble. On top of that, he remains long armed and aggressive on the other end.

STOMP

My only qualm would be: who would he take minutes from? With Crabbe finally looking good it looks like our 96 minutes of guard per game are taken, and I wouldn't want to go small with Crabbe at SF. It's all very well saying he'd replace Frazier, but if somebody's just going to sit on the bench then better it be somebody who's Lillard's buddy.
But he's going to get called up VERY soon, I just wonder by whom. Pelicans perhaps?

I remember Lamarcus saying Elliot Williams was the most athletic player on the court during a summer hoops game LA held offseason during Elliots 2nd year with the Blazers...just before he was injured ..I was really looking forward to him cracking the rotation.
