Semi-OT: Kevin Love dually dissed

My original point, to julius, was that Aldridge may lose some "glamour" battle to Griffin, but not to Love. In response to the idea that Stern would select either player (Griffin or Love) over Aldridge as the "it kid."

Could Aldridge be passed over for Love on merit? Sure, I can see people thinking Love is better than Aldridge, even if I don't. But I don't think Stern would be biased towards Love over Aldridge due to whom he wants to promote.

you're calling those who are saying Love is missing shots on purpose to pad his rebounding stats haters. Nicolas Batum said Love is missing shots on purpose to pad his rebounding stats in the link provided in the OP (the source of this thread/discussion), so you're calling NB a hater. Of course he's much more then just some random fan making his observations, he's an NBA player from our favorite team. It seems you're hating on the other Blazer starting forward as you've done with Aldridge in the past.

I have to agree with ZagFan on this one. Specifically citing Sportscenter, when the Blazers played both the Clippers & Wolves recently, each game was relegated to the 2nd 1/2 hour of the broadcast, meriting only about 15 seconds of highlights, despite Aldridge's dominant performances in each. When the Clippers & Wolves played, however, that game was identified the day before as "what to watch for", and was covered at length within the first 10 minutes of that night's broadcast.

Clearly, ESPN thinks Love has more buzz factor than Aldridge does; otherwise, the Blazers-Clippers game would have received treatment similar to that of Wolves-Clippers.

I wasn't arguing who is considered a bigger deal between Aldridge and Love. I was arguing that Love isn't considered one of the big, famous stars of the game that would cause Stern to be biased if he had to select between Aldridge and Love. That's what I mean by "buzz factor"...not who is simply better regarded by SportsCenter, but who is someone Stern specifically wants to use for marketing purposes. I can plausibly see Griffin being one of those guys...I doubt that Love is. Gerald Wallace is probably better regarded than Michael Beasley...but that doesn't mean either one has a buzz factor (as I'm using the term--the type of marketing power that would cause Stern to care for one over the other beyond pure performance).

When I bring up placement in the SC broadcast, I mention it because that is all driven by marketability. I would argue that the fact that Griffin v. Love receives marquee matchup treatment might indicates that you may be underrating the national perception of Love's celebrity and marketing power. And it's not just ESPN; TNT treats him the same way. Further, I also think we can't ignore the fact that Love is a white American player, and there's still an element of the public that will be subconciously drawn to support him.

Basically, I think the networks and the league have a higher opinion of Love's broad-market appeal than you do.

Saying a player is a hater isn't hating on the player, or the team. I think hater is meant to be when someone doesn't give someone their do. Because I said Batum is a hater, it would be a huuuuuge stretch to say I hate the guy. You can go back through hundreds of my posts and I think you'll find very few criticisms I've made of Batum. Him and Wes are my favorite Blazers.

I have a friend that is a diehard Pistons fan. He talks absolute smack about the Blazers at any chance. I call him a hater. Does that mean I hate him? No. But, it definitely means I think he needs to put down the hater-ade.

Same with all my Dawg fan friends when they talk smack about the Ducks.
