[Semi-OT] The Lakers are an absolute Dumpster Fire and I am loving every second of it

The Lakers being below the 2nd apron preserves being able to (1) aggregate salaries in trades and (2) keep their 2031 draft pick (7 years away) from being frozen — unable to be traded.

Are you sure on this second part? I thought 2032 would be the first draft picks that may be frozen - which would be for teams above the 2nd apron this year in 2024-25.

Portland has 3 picks in 2029 with the 2nd best already promised to Washington. Unless that pick is named specifically as the 2nd best of Portland, Boston or Milwaukee’s pick, then a 2029 pick from the Lakers could end up being the 2nd best — which would be BAD.
Don't understand this logic at all... Lakers pick if unprotected could be anywhere from #1-#30.

Maybe you are thinking if we acquire the Lakers pick it could against our wishes go to Washington? It would not - that trade is already done and it specifically included only PDX/BOS/MIL picks. If the Blazers now acquire the Lakers pick that would be completely independent of Washington.

You are correct.

Picks will not be frozen unless the team is over the 2nd apron 3 of the last 4 years.

Ok, so would that be a 2032 pick frozen if a team was over the 2nd apron 2024-25,2023-24,2022-23?

I can't think of any teams that would even be at risk of this, LAC and GS probably duck 2nd apron this year, maybe Phoenix has been above.

I understand what blazekor said and that that would not happen. I then suggested a pick swap occur in 2029 with the Lakers getting the worst of the 3 picks (probably Boston) as it is likely to be worse than the Lakers’ pick. Getting an unconditional pick in 2030 from the Lakers gives them time to suck worse.

Yeah I really like this deal. We still basically get the draft equity of two unprotected picks but the Lakers can try to sell it as they only gave up one pick.

2029 lottery would be crazy as any of BOS/MIL/PDX/LAL win and we get that pick. Dream scenario would be amazing if were a contender around that time and still have 3 chances for the #1 pick.

Laker podcasters want to trade crummy 2nd rounders for Walker Kessler .... I think they're forgetting, Danny Ainge is a legendary Celtic who battled with Magic's Lakers.

no deal

oh geez, now they want all the good players in Utah for Vincent & a pick.

don't let Laker fans near a microphone. They think every Lakers trade can be Kwame bust Brown for All-Star Pau Gasol

Locked on Lakers podcasters got mad at me for gaslighting their GM.

LOL, It's fun being a fake Lakers fan

Wait, did you make it onto an actual podcast doing this!?!

latest Laker fan comp:
since Michael Jordan came off the bench in high school, then became *one of the best players ever. It means Bronny's bad high school and college years don't mean a dang thing.

*Laker fan mindset; LeBron, Kobe, Shaq, Magic, Austin Reeves all better then MJ.

Do they really?
I just looked because I haven't been to Subway in forever and their average footlong is now around $13. Most of the best sandwich shops in Portland average around $13 or $14 a sandwich and while they aren't footlongs I would almost guarantee that they weigh more. No wonder I haven't heard anyone say, "You wanna get lunch at Subway?" in over a decade.

I had the best sandwich of my life on Alberta two days ago: https://www.pasturepdx.com/
