OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

@SteveKaysNBA: R. Bucher: Nets agree with F Travis Outlaw on 5-yr, $35 million deal; he averaged 9.1 ppg in 2009-10

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

From LeBron to Trout. Man that has gotta suck for Nets fans.

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

Congrats to Outlaw. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

That said, $7 mil/year for 9 points a game? Yikes. And it's not like he's an "intangible" guy. His stats tell you precisely what he contributes.

I'm glad we sewed up Aldridge and Camby already. There's some stupid amounts of money out there waiting to be spent.

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

I'm happy Chucklaw is getting overpaid. He was always a very nice guy in Portland. Good for him.

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

KP and Trout reunited.

Happy for the guy.

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

So if we dont trade Outlaw, we end up with nothing, because there was no way in hell we would have gave him 35 mil

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

Wow, I guess they don't get Blazer/Clipper games on DirecTV in NJ.

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

Geeze it's like the owners are trying to bankrupt themselves in one off-season so they can go into bargaining next year and overhaul the system.

Shocking. Not only the amount of money, but the fact he went to the Nets. I figured he would run to MEM or NOH.

Mornin Max, not really shocking given that the big FA's are now gone and some of the other contracts we've seen given out. Just to many teams who lost out on the big FA's with a ton of $$$$, that equals big time overpaying, it is what it is.

I think it's more a case of they have a crapload of cash and nobody to spend it on. Reminds me of when Ron Mercer cashed in when Chicago couldn't land anybody decent in 2001.

Good for Travis ... That's a lot of money, but in this market it's probably about right for a guy who can shoot from three and can get his own shot (no matter how many other deficiencies he might have).

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

I wish nothing but the best for Travis. Great guy. I hope he kicks some ass in NJ.

They should jut sit on the cap space and wait for the deadline or next summer than sign TO. He's not winning them any more games next season.

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

Can't say I get it, thought NJ was smarter... Prokhorov wants a championship in a couple of years -- this is definitely not the way to go. They have lots of money to spend but they also need to fill out their roster.

Good for him!!!!!!

Well, I guess their GM would say an asset is an asset. By picking him up now, he might explode into something more, making him tradable for a better piece down the road. I kind of agree with you, though.

I will say that a drive-and-dish type point guard like Devin Harris seems a perfect fit for Outlaw's offense. And he'll help spread the floor when they throw it into Lopez. I can see him having a career season in New Jersey. With the number of shots he'll be getting, I can see him as a candidate for Most Improved Player based just on the points.

But I don't think it'll translate to many wins. The scoring will get the headlines. The piss-poor defense and lack of rebounding will lose the games.

Re: OT: TROUT Getting Paid!!!!

Love Travis. Glad for him.

Congratulations to Travis!

I think Trout could easily score 14+ if given the green light. Good for Outlaw. :D

I wonder what KP thinks of that move going into his interview?

Also, good for you Travis.

Congrats to Outlaw, one of the most sincerely nice and genuine people ever - not just for a basketball player.

He probably has enough money to buy the entire county he was born in!

Maybe they should change this date to Travis Outlaw Day!

Good for Outlaw. Bad for the Nets.

Ed O.
