@SteveKaysNBA: R. Bucher: Nets agree with F Travis Outlaw on 5-yr, $35 million deal; he averaged 9.1 ppg in 2009-10

Shocking. Not only the amount of money, but the fact he went to the Nets. I figured he would run to MEM or NOH.
Wow, I guess they don't get Blazer/Clipper games on DirecTV in NJ.
I think it's more a case of they have a crapload of cash and nobody to spend it on. Reminds me of when Ron Mercer cashed in when Chicago couldn't land anybody decent in 2001.
They should jut sit on the cap space and wait for the deadline or next summer than sign TO. He's not winning them any more games next season.
Well, I guess their GM would say an asset is an asset. By picking him up now, he might explode into something more, making him tradable for a better piece down the road. I kind of agree with you, though.
I will say that a drive-and-dish type point guard like Devin Harris seems a perfect fit for Outlaw's offense. And he'll help spread the floor when they throw it into Lopez. I can see him having a career season in New Jersey. With the number of shots he'll be getting, I can see him as a candidate for Most Improved Player based just on the points.
But I don't think it'll translate to many wins. The scoring will get the headlines. The piss-poor defense and lack of rebounding will lose the games.

This will make Lebron want to join.
