He honestly seems to be going batty. Not just cause of this, but over the past 5 years or so, there has been so many flubs it just doesn't seem normal.

They're mostly lawyers, not foreign policy and military experts. That's for starters.

Their work product speaks volumes about their abilities.

Yes they are lawyers (or usually some other professional) whose job it is to understand the dynamics of foreign policy and the military. Basically people who can think rationally and have the time to deeply dive into these topics being briefed and given tons of information by experts in the area.

They might have different philosophies about what is best for the country, but I believe they all have the intentions to make the US a better country.

Easy to criticize their decisions (just like second guessing a coach), but I believe in the system we have in place and that we have elected people to make these very important decisions. If congress AND the president says it is the appropriate action, I feel a lot more confident in that than what a radio talk show host or papag's propaganda :) says on this board. (Love you papag)

Notet: I was very much against us doing anything with Syria and if the president went at it alone I would have stayed with my position. If congress votes to take action . . . maybe, just maybe my 15 minute analysis of the situation and how to handle it could be wrong.

Just as funny to me are people who play congressman on the internet . . . did you happen to sleep in a Holiday Inn last night? :)

They don't think rationally. There's a whole field of study about how very large organizations fail to think rationally.

It's quite evident with our congresspeople. They'll vote for this stupid idea, even though 9% of the people favor it, because of the D or R next to their name.

I truly wish our congressmen were people who came from all walks of life, basically your average citizen, instead of people whose careers are based upon getting reelected.

the only special skill it takes to be elected to a public office is the ability to raise money.

Including private companies.

I think any large organization tends to actually think rationally in one way ... protecting itself and expanding its power. That's why government is the large organization that should be feared the most, since they control the police, and the money, and the etc. etc.

Reading people here whine about corporations is amusing to me, when they support government in the next post.

Just trying to provide some balance... so many here love to ride corporations' jocks.

Yes, but the govt. dwarfs the biggest companies. The defense budget alone would buy every share of Apple and every share of Google. One years budget buys those two companies. Those two companies took decades to become worth a year's military budget.

The govt. spends another $3T a year on other things.

That isn't counting what the states spend.

And why on earth should I trust a company with that giant firehose of money?

Nobody is saying you should, yet you defend government at every turn. Makes me question your integrity, frankly, unless you really are just trying to be "balanced". I've already said I left corporate America, too, because I didn't like what I saw in the Fortune 100 companies that I worked for, with, and had in my network.

Yet you say you continue to pull a nice check from corporate America. Seems hypocritical to me.

bingo

when you can print the money you spend, that trumps all

Apple and Google compete with one another. Competition is a good thing - it encourages innovation and excellence when it comes to serving the public.

Government? Doesn't innovate much and I don't know many people who find getting pulled over for a ticket or spending a day at DMV to be an excellent experience.
