I could of put this somewhere else but I need an answer quickly.

Can you play playstation 3 games on a playstation 2 console? may be a stupid question but I'm not sure.

All fact - No. Why? One is far more powerful then the other. It would be like playing a PC game that requires a minimal 4.0 GHz on a 2.2 GHz PC.

No, if they did it would be no point in releasing the PS3.

You could however play PS2 games on PS3. That's not what you asked tho...so yeah. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

I hear you have to download a special patch or update for that to work. Or some extra part. Not sure.

Mine worked without downloading anything extra. I did do a required system update though, maybe it could have been a part of that.

I have a question. I have heard that if you buy a PS3 without having a certain type of television it is the same as if you had a PS2 can anyone tell me if this is true?

Do you mean graphics wise? No it's not true. There is a HUGE difference in the gameplay. It looks much nicer. However if you have an HDTV, then it's even better.

It's impossible, PS3 uses a BluRay drive, while PS2 uses a standard DVD drive. Plus as Hustler said, there would be no point in releasing the PS3 if you could play them on a PS2.
