SETH Curry to Portland

I don't hate the signing. Butttttt. Why do we want another guard that sucks on defense? Cant we get something different, like a 3 and D shooting guard with some size?

Jesus. Really?

I swear, Neil is the Jack Z of the NBA. Falls in love with one certain type.

If we use the BAE, we're hard-capped at the Apron of 129,817,000.
Lux tax starts at 123,733,000

If we instead carve up our taxpayer MLE (5,603,850) by giving half of it to Curry, no problem, we just keep ringing up salary. If we used the non-taxpayer MLE (9,073,050), the BAE (3,551,100) or a Sign and Trade, they're hard-capped at the apron.
Yeah, my guess is unless something else happens this will be with part of the tax-MLE.

Had a PER of 15 playing nearly 30minutes a night on a team that pretty much runs Terry’s offense.

ALERT:

THERE ARE NO OPTIONS FOR US TO BE BETTER THAN THE WARRIORS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

YES DAME WILL BE WASTED HERE AND HE WILL LEAVE AS HE SHOULD

WE ARE FOCUSING ON 3+ YEARS FROM NOW.....NOW

Best understand this and get over it. This is the world we live in

Maybe. But personally, I DON'T LIKE THE WAY YOU TALK!

I think it's pretty obvious which of those we did.

I know you guys all think Neil's an idiot, but let's be real.

Wrong way to look at it.
This year we obtained Biggie and Zach in the draft.
Next year we're getting Simons and Trent in the draft.

So, from my POV at least, we've gotten 2 guards and 2 bigs. Balance.
So you're LITERALLY living in the past? Also ignoring our star free agent signings

Wonder how CJ feels about all this. Flattered (Olshey likes me so much he keeps trying to clone me) or a little concerned that he's being replaced
CJ will be happy when he ends up on a team where he can be an all star. Bonus if it's a market where he gets more national exposure. Seriously, he won't care.

What means getting hard capped?

Certain kinds of exceptions that are allowed to sign free agents only can be used if you're under certain spending limits. If you use one of those, then for the rest of the season you can't exceed a point called "the apron", which is about $6 million over the luxury tax threshold.

Neil knows its not the good curry right?

This is starting to feel like Neil has watched too many "back to the future" movies and is enacting the Doc Brown part. A little bit crazy.

And what do we get in return? Judging by what we got for Batum, a couple of second round picks and a pack of gum.

This "real" you speak of has been brought to us courtesy of one Neil Olshey.

Thanks bro

Also, if we get Kawhi, it's a guarantee his injury is career-ending.

Ah, the "David Kahn Defense"... ;)

Seriously, we could offer a vet min contract for just under 2M (just like we did with Stauskas), or carve up our 5.6M exception that's the only way we're going to get anyone above the vet min who's a FA, in order to give a guy a few hundred G's more. For Seth Curry. A guy who missed the entire last season.

No. Wrong. It's not living in the past. It's great strategy.
What "star FAs"? You mean Stauskas and Curry? They are the 2 guards and Collins and Biggie are our 2 bigs. I didn't get it wrong, you must have just misunderstood.

at least it's not right-handed power hitters who can't hit homers in their own stadium or play D... wait a second....
