Portland Trail Blazers small forward Nassir Little was diagnosed with a left shoulder labral tear on January 26 and will likely have season-ending surgery.

PORTLAND, Ore. (February 1, 2022) – Trail Blazers forward Nassir Little underwent successful surgery this morning to repair the torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Little will begin a treatment and rehabilitation plan and is expected to make a full recovery prior to next season’s training camp.

This is why you don't lock in on someone who dodged the scouting process, thinking you know something that everyone else missed. All we heard of why he didn't play last year is, he needed to get his body right... We threw caution to the wind.

No one liked my pre-draft opinion that he's at best a 50/50 chance of success. You can only guess at what you're dealing with if the negatives are being hidden.

They might say 8-12 weeks or they might say surgery which means 3 to 6 months. Ugh! I really hope for him that it's 8 weeks and he'll be able to participate in training camp and preseason. need to read more about this and obviously each case is its own entity, but when i dislocated my shoulder, my doc told me i most likely also had a small tear in my labrum. Even if it supposedly healed itself (i only did rigorous PT to strengthen muscles around it), it doesn't seem as stable as it was before. I hope they err on the side of long term health than quickly getting him back on the court

This injury does nothing to confirm your opinion. This injury just happened. But go ahead and act like you were right when all that happened was someone who you said wasn't going to be good got injured before they could prove you wrong.

This is outrageous, he is the most exciting propect we've had since Dame and he's probably a more exciting prospect so he's the most exciting prospect we've had since Oden (not trying to rile up the doomsdayists). So it's really shitty as fans that he got hurt but shittier for him that he doesn't get this opportunity to start his career, knock the rust off and get familiar with the system in a hands on way.

Yeah, I'm assuming that the extent of how your shoulder was evaluated and Shaedon's will be before they clear him is going to be very different and will probably include another MRI along with a lot of physical examination to make sure it is stable... they didn't say that this was a separation and most people that separate/dislocate their shoulders never have the same stability in that joint again. I definitely don't want the team risking his long term health but I also definitely want him participating in training camp if it's safe for him to.

recovery time will depend on whether he needs surgery or not and that depends on location and how big a tear, have to wait and see

you really think they didn't do a thorough medical evaluation before drafting him? this injury is fairly acute. not sure how you could hide this in the predraft process.

I'm with you, this is disheartening on a singular level. I was really excited to see Shaedon play and excited for the kid to get to do what he says he loves doing. I'm now really disappointed that none of that will happen and apprehensive about his immediate future (what this injury means for this upcoming season, for him).

Wouldn’t surprise me at all. This is what happens when you tank for half the season just to make sure you get into the lottery.

I don't begrudge you your POV, but for some of us this team no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt. Outside of Dame, every player is crap until they convince me otherwise. I literally have no faith in any of them.

You are entitled to think me unfair. I consider the way this franchise has screwed its fans to be unfair.

He will need surgery 100%. You can try to play through it and manage the pain, it won't get worse but labrums don't heal they're just cartilage.

So "re-evaluate in 10-14 days" means decide if he wants to play his entire rookie year hindered by shoulder pain and mobility restrictions, or should he get the surgery now and begin rehab asap. My guess is the latter and he will be out 3-4 months at least. There is a small chance he misses the entire year too.

This fucking franchise has the most unbelievably bad luck in sports history. And yesterday people were wondering why some of us were pessimistic. Theres no other outcome to expect for us than the worst.

Oh yeah, that's totally what always happens because it's not like teams tanked to get LeBron, it's not like the Celtics blatantly tanked to get both Tatum and Brown, it's not like tanking has paid off probably hundreds of times because half the stars in this league over the last two decades were drafted by teams that tanked to get the pick they ended up with.

That's an illogically cynical POV but it's your right to have it and torture yourself with it. I have a lot of views of the world that are like that so I'm not saying I'm better than you. I'm just saying it's a shitty way to look at things but most of us do have at least something we look at that way.
 
A year from now, we will be hearing how hard he has worked and how great his rehab has gone...and oh my, he has a dime sized hole in the cartiledge and will miss an entire 'nother season!

And yes, I am still bitter at KP for all the lies about Oden.

Agreed on the prognosis..but it could worse (knee).
