The only acceptable thing is he's really good. I want to see him prosper on a healthy Blazers team. We all do. At least i hope we all do. Some make me wonder.

I want to see him become the best player to ever play for the Blazers (side note: that's not a prediction or an expectation).

I want him to be the best player in the draft this year (much like imho, Damian is the best player in his draft...mostly due to the annual injuries to Davis).

But most of all, I want him to not be a scrub.

Because he enrolled late and missed their training camp and such.

I'm not close to either of those views. I just haven't seen anything yet that leads me to think he will be getting a lot of playing time in the near future.

From what I understand, he could have played easily but he was told he'd be a top ten pick if he declared for draft. He didn't play because he was wanting to get his body right and avoid injury before draft?

Can Sharpe help change the one and done rule again? There’s been recent discussion about it… Players are against it. Colleges would hate it. Not great for teams, or incredibly great for teams.

One and done rule really changes things honestly.

That's the concern. Enrolling late isn't what kept him from playing. If he was truly the best player in practices, Calipari would have played him in games if Sharpe wanted to. He chose to not compete. Maybe it'll turn out to be a smart long-term plan, but it's a pretty glaring red flag at the moment...which includes pre-draft, IMO.

Correct, he could have played, but by the time he joined the team--Kentucky was ravaged by injuries so he would have been playing with a bunch of third stringers. Didn't have a proper training camp with the team so he would have looked lost out there. And it would have just hurt his draft stock and he'd just be open to an injury for literally no reason.

Could be, but he was getting feedback from parents and probably agent. Calipari addressed it and said it was their call. He also said he's could be the #1 pick in next years draft.

Kobe went straight to the NBA because he didn't want to play college ball--basically the same thing with Sharpe. Kentucky had a bunch of injuries so playing time wouldn't have been an issue. If I joined a team and saw that all three of the shooting guards ahead of me got hurt I'd be VERY hesitant to play that year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sharpe got only mopup minutes for the first half of the season. I think he can earn and develop in practice or in G-league just as well or better than playing 15 minutes against guys he may not be ready to play against. I see some comparisons to Kobe's playing time. I see nothing that tells me Sharpe has anywhere near the toughness and desire to be great and to dominate that Kobe had.

I just don't see why they'd want him to go play for another organization's G-League team where they couldn't monitor him as well and couldn't really rely on whatever coaching staff that is to give him the proper time. I think they'll just keep him up practicing with the team all year, even if he's not playing.

I think they'll just keep him up practicing with the team all year, even if he's not playing.

Yes, I know that's what we have always done and unless we get our own G league team or find a team that will let an assistant coach go with him, then practice is best. Except since there are so few full practices during the season for rotation players, he most likely would practice against scrubs.

Not swayed. Anyone with a competitive mindset would see that as an opportunity.

I mean, if he's really that scared of getting hurt, and then gets hurt 5 minutes into his first pro stint, what's that say about his durability and state of mind?
