I'm comparing Shaedon Sharpe as we see him now at 19 years old to Brandon Roy highlights.
Don't have enough highlights of Sharpe yet for Youtube apparently (I can only find single game highlights) so here's one of Brandon Roy and a couple of Sharpe.
What I see is that at 19 Sharpe looks bigger/more muscular. Certainly more athletic. Both are smooth when moving with the ball.

Sharpe looks like he will be (or already is) a fantastic rebounder. Maybe not the passer that Roy and Drexler were. But who wants him to pass with the moves he has.
So maybe Sharpe is just as good or better playing small forward as shooting guard? I don't what position is best for him , he just needs to be playing and playing a lot.
He looks more like Roy than Drexler to me in the way he (ironically) glides around. Or maybe he IS more like Clyde in the way he covers ground so fast so easily?

Let's add a Clyde video just because:

You are comparing him to one of my all time favorite Blazers so be careful...lol. Seriously though, the thought crossed my mind watching him last night. Not the exact same style, but the 'it' factor Roy had SS has. I like it. This is the most exciting rookie the Blazers have had since Dame. I am pumped for him.

I think Roy is one of most-everyone's favorite Trail Blazers.

Roy played 4 years of college.

They don't have the same body, but I see a "Vince Carter" with Shaedon.
BRoy....Top 5 in my book.

Can you imagine being a 19 year old kid who sat out a year then steps onto the court with a guy in the top 75 all-time and still has the guts to take his own shot when open? That seems like a no-duh, but not sure I could have done that at 19. I was playing CC basketball at 19 and still thought twice when shooting...lol. Joe did well on this one.

I commented to a friend two weeks ago I thought his footwork reminded me of Roy's.

Hop on my train! There is room for everyone!!!

He will be Starting and our second best blazer by the end of the season. I said it then, i stick by it now.

The more I watch, the more I see a smaller Kawhi Leonard (the younger version).

I'm excited to see Sharpe getting more playing time the next week/two weeks while Dame heals. I'd love to see Sharpe start at the two next to Ant but I feel Billups will move Hart to the two and start either Nas/Winslow at the three.

Sharpe is a SF and should start there with Hart at the 2.

Ok, Ill be the first to say it “very young MJ” not MJ after his 7th year in the league.
He’s got the same confidence and can move to the hoop with authority.

Roy had blazer fandom big time and when he left he didn’t consider that or show his appreciation.
Some sports stars were on a pedestal since junior high and never learned to appreciate those in support and some see right away and are humbled and appreciative, Roy really wasn’t.

When Roy decided to play for the Timberwolves after medically retiring

Yeah, Darius was vilified for doing the same thing, but Roy gets a pass...??

Also, I think there's a distinct age range for those who say Roy is their all time favorite.

He's a fantastic rebounder, already.
Yeah that would be a very good rebounding 2/3. Sharpe actually out-leapt Hart and knocked him to the ground on one rebound. Then he took the ball to the hoop and scored.

And then there's Clyde Drexler and Bill Walton / Maurice Lucas too.

Sellout? I don’t know the story I guess?
He took a big contract, retired due to injuries, then went and unretired and played with the twolves and has never really had much to do with or say about portland.
I respect his talent and often think of what could have been like most, but other than that, he never embraced the city that embraced him.
