Or make a trade at the deadline to save his life and make us a contender.
Oh, I don't think the deadline is in play as far as his job is concerned. Either this ownership group will fire him very soon or he is practically bullet proof and can continue to sell them on giving things time.

this is STILL not done yet?

leave it to our ownership to bungle yet another obvious decision.
I think it's done but they aren't going to say anything until the CEO situation is settled which is tomorrow. We might just get a press release over the weekend that the investigation didn't show anything actionable. Hopefully we'll get a press conference from Hankins on Monday.

what CEO situation? why tmrw? ive been on a pseudo vacay-- haven't been paying too close of attention?

im not following? what's happening tmrw? mcgowan stepped down two weeks ago and his replacement was promoted the day of the announcement.

apparently, he think the Blazers are waiting for the formality of the announcement of new president to fire Olshey

I'd think, if the Blazers were going to fire the GM, they'd just fire his ass so the first act of a new president wasn't to fire the GM. On the other hand, I think the firing of Olshey would be so popular with Blazer fans the new Prez would get a big PR boost

McGowan gave his two weeks notice two weeks ago. The article specifically says that McGowan's resignation is effective on Nov. 26. So I'd assume that Hankins first day really being in charge is tomorrow or was today and I don't see them making any announcements on the holiday weekend.

ah i see now.

hankins has been sitting next to jody and kolde since the announcement at home games and mcgowan had already effectively removed all blazer items on his social that day itself.

while the transition might officially happen on the 26th, i don't see it as anything more than a formality. think it's unrelated to the olshey probe.

I think that they didn't want a lame duck CEO choosing the interim President of Basketball Operations/GM or both individually. On the other hand maybe McGowan was pushing for Olshey to be fired and wouldn't have his name attached to Olshey being exonerated. We should find out soon enough.

These seem like the kind of people to actually stand on ceremony on something like this... even though that's pretty lame. At the same time maybe they're just this dysfunctional and the investigation isn't closed or they're just stalling for some weird reason.

McGowan was President and CEO, everything I have read shows Hankins only going to be president and not the CEO. Unless I am misunderstanding it, he will not have any say in Olshey's job He will be in charge of the business side while Olshey is in charge of the player personal side.

and it's always been that way. the roles were ... um.. bifurcated from day 1.

@julius ....ahh, a fellow Trekkie.

technically, while true (I am a Trekkie), I was referencing the original source of that quote (Adlai Stevenson) but bastardizing it with the Star Trek influence...mostly because I remembered it more from TUC than from Adlai Stevenson...:)
