Shandon Anderson Agrees to Sign with the Heat

wow... this is shocking i dont understand why the heat would want him though. do they need help that bad, as to get shandon anderson?

Atleast he's not on the Rockets. If he signed with them we would have almost half the squad as former Knicks. This is Anderson's best chance at winning a championship so he jumped at the idea. Can't blame him. Don't know why he was so interesting.

Well although Shandon wont lock down any superstars like McGrady or Kobe Bryant he's still a great defender. It's not too surprising actually. He was our best perimeter defender. He can guard guards and a good deal of small forwards. He also plays well in transition. Surprisingly the Heat still run even though they have Shaq on their team so its a good fit for them. Shandon will give other team's top perimeter scorers problems at the same time "thrive in transition". He's coming on the cheap and will be coming off the bench. Smart move by the Heat. Just because we dont think too highly of our players doesnt mean noone else will want them. The Jazz jumped on the chance to sign Howard Eisley,mrj18's favorite player, again. Their doing pretty well too. Looks like Shandon and Howard both get the last laugh.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. The Heat stocked up a lot on shooting and offense in the offseason because we need them to spread the D with Shaq. Now that we have Shandon Anderson, he gives us a veteran defensive presence that can come off the bench and guard Fs and SGs (which we lack). Like you said, he also is at best in the transition when it comes to offense. IMO it's a great signing for the Heat as we have a player that can defend coming off the bench.

The slowest player on the Heat is Shaq so we still have 4 players that can play the transition game (besides, Shaq doesn't have to move as much

). Once Shaq is off the floor it becomes even more of a fast break team. Keyon Dooling, Damon Jones, Rasual Butler, Dwyane Wade, Shandon Anderson, Eddie Jones, Udonis Haslem, and Malik Allen can all run the floor well.

Anderson is a pretty decent perimeter defender, and a good player on the break but his lack of offense makes him really bad. It's not that he plays decent offense it's that his offense is horrible. And as Nylex said he blows many layups and easy shots. In 30 minutes starting for Houston in the playoffs he gave you 4 points and a 30% fg. I don't know if I'm just hating or whatever it is I see Anderson as a good defender with a good transitional game, that had no offensive game and was way over paid.

Pretty decent? I know you dont like him neither do I to be honest but he is a good perimeter defender. We didnt like him because he was a weak offensive player when he played in the half court. You didnt really think it was possible for him to match Houston's production and efficiency did you? You have to remember the Heat arent getting him to score lots of points. Their getting him for defense. They have Shaq and Wade, Jones and Butler to do that. His job is simply to play tough defense which he is capable of doing as well as score points in transition whenever he can which he is capable of doing. The Heat are designed to win the title this year or next year so they have loaded up on players who can compliment Shaq. Signing Shandon could very well be pivotal(I think that's how you spell it).

I wasn't asking for Anderson to match Houston's productivity however, I was expecting a half way decent performance. My bad, I just checked Anderson wasn't shooting 30%. He was shooting 4 lower at 26%. I just expected him to average more than 4.3 ppg during the playoffs, or atleast give Kerry Kittles a hard time.

Although Shandon's defense might help the Heat it well cerainly not be by a great amount. The players you named such as Shaq, Wade, and Jones are all good defenders as well. Anderson sigining was a far from major one by the Miami Heat. It's like if the Heat's defense was 8, Shandon would have made it 8.1.
