I would have done the same. Take the life changing amount of money and make him apologize. He admitted in the settlement that he can understand how she didn't think she consented. So he paid her $2.5 million and apologized. That's on the record.

She dropped the charges so he didn't have to go to jail. I'm glad she got more out of it than just him going to jail.

Depends on how long “a long time” is. If he was here for 11 seasons like Dame, I think he could reach 20k.

Sharpe will likely be much more efficient than Dame because he can get easier buckets. He’ll likely continue to get better at taking tougher shots. Dame also didn’t start shooting 10+ 3’s a game until four years ago, Sharpe will probably be shooting that many a night by the time he is early in his prime and be just as effective a shooter as Dame.

But those are also big expectations.

Dame has a career FT rate of .346; Sharpe's rate this year is .162. Dame has averaged 5.8 points a game on FT's. Sharpe averaged 0.9; and his small 8 game surge, he averaged 3.6. Assuming 75 games/year, Sharpe would need to average 26 points for the next 10 years to hit the 20,000 point plateau. He would have to channel MJ...on steroids

I really like Sharpe's upside, a lot. But Dame is Portland's all time scoring leader; he's the best player in franchise history, especially on offense. To suggest, from the extremely limited perspective at this point, that Sharpe will surpass Dame just seems a bit bonkers to me

yeah. Depends on his rookie extension. That can be 3-5 years. If he only signs for 3 years it's not a good sign. Being able to 'control' a player for 7-9 years is a big reason why the Blazers should value their 1st this season highly. Compare Sharpe's 'known' Blazer future with Grant

Didn't really have a choice with Grant. We didn't really have him anyway. He hasn't been established as a Blazer. Still in the dating stage, IMO. But once he signs for 2+ years he should be in that category.

I see Shaedon repeatedly trying to get out on breaks to get massive dunks and blocking the shit out of guys on fast breaks. He's been in this role for like 3 weeks. Too early to write him off

I just want to see a little more fire out of him. I get it, it's his rookie year, and he didn't get to really compete at the college level.
I'm introverted myself - no one expects him to have Kobe or MJ energy.

I do want to see him come out next season with some confidence and more out of his shell. I think he will. High expectations - I love Sharpe and was hoping he'd somehow fall to us once that #7 ball hit us in the lotto.

yeah, I know and I didn't mean to come across as dismissive, if I was

that just seemed to be an almost impossible plateau to reach, even with volume scoring apparently being on the upswing

If anyone has mentioned it, I missed it, but it occurred to me today, we're looking to the past for comparisons when the best one might be the present: LeBron. The frame, fluidity, explosive leaping and finishing ability, affinity for erasing shots emphatically, and deceptively methodical pace of play all fit and are why it's so hard to find a good comparison with anyone else. It's a fairly unique combination.

Also, people often forget that LeBron faced similar criticism as Shaedon through much of his early career, for lacking outward competitive fire, which was most often evidenced by 4th quarter disappearances.

Obviously, being 3" shorter, Shaedon won't have that same ability to play 1-4, and it remains to be seen if he ever develops LeBron's level of court vision to be a primary ball handler, but he could be somewhere between that and prime Derick Rose, who physically dominated the position with similar tools.
