First of all: this is a thread based on expectations of Sharpe being a 1st option on a championship team
So the standards are high
In order for us to have a good rebuild after Dame's departure we need to find a 1st option from the draft, everything else is less important
Given Scoot's early struggles Sharpe is our best option to potentially fill that role, but the big question is: is he potentially capable of doing it?
Watching him last year and the first part of this season I have huge concerns, here is what I see:
- He doesn't seem to have killer instinct, both on and off the court
Off the court he's shy and always sets for small goals during interviews, but being shy off the court wouldn't matter if it doesn't reflect on the court.
Unfortunately on the court he's always hiding in the corners and seems reclutant to take big shots and he always defer to the veterans, he doesn't have that good cockyness that greats always have.
It's not like he has Kobe Bryant and LeBron James ahead of him, it's Jerami Grant and Malcolm Brogdon.
- He doesn't use his left hand, he always goes right, if he goes left he only finish with dunks or with awkward finish with the right hand
- Maybe his biggest issue is his ball handling, everytime he puts the ball on the floor against good perimeters defenders he trips or his loses the handle
Maybe this aspect of the game is the one that makes him reclutant to shine in big moments
If Shaedon can't become a first option i think we're once again in trouble of becoming a treadmill team like past years unless we get lucky in the draft
What do you guys think? Are you confident that Shaedon can become a 1st option?
