Half the league whiffed on Giannis.
That wasn’t an “Olshey” thing.
Seriously, why are you quoting me here? Nothing you quote me on remotely relates to what you're saying.

You literally were bitching about Neil blowing his opportunity to draft the greatest thing since sliced bread, then said Giannis was unknown to peons like you, then backed that up with another Olshey complaint.

If his talents were so obvious, why did half the league whiff on him?

Then quote me on what you want to discuss instead of something completely unrelated... try to make sense. My comments are from well over a month ago so you're reviving a dead end with zero context.

And good grief, along with the above stupidity way to completely miss my point. It's not bitching about Olshey missing on Giannis, it's the idiotic narrative that Olshey did a "great" job in that draft. If we're using our super hindsight ability reviewing a GM's performance in a draft where he wiffed on selecting a generational talent and get a solid starter instead, sorry no A+ for Soapy.

I'm sorry that you're so pathetic at this and then feel the need to lash out after embarrassing yourself

with Shaedon in starter mode, I wonder if Pistons fans are having 2nd thoughts on drafting Ivey?
I’ve seen comments on Sharpe videos on YT saying “wish DET drafted this guy”.

Sharpe would’ve been perfect for them, considering Cade is essentially their PG. Ivey was just the safest pick at that point. Now, they’re probably going to have to choose between the two in a few years. This is why taking swings in the mid lotto is huge when you have an established star.

That’s also why if we land at #6, I’m hoping the #5 team plays it safe and drafts a guy like Jarace Walker so we draft a guy like Ausar Thompson.

I don’t think there is any way we keep the 6 pick

Depends who is available.

Ya, no way unless Wemby drops, and then it’s because of concerns. Even then if Dame is still on this team, I doubt we’d keep the first pick. This team is about to mortgage it’s sneaky young core

IF they get the #1 pick and trade it, they sure as fuck better get a guaranteed trilogy of titles.

I'm not saying that Wemby is a guarantee (anything can happen), but trading the #1 pick under the guise of pleasing Dame/winning a title is short sighted and would (more than likely) blow up in their face.

Trading the #1 pick would be such a short sighted Blazery thing to do.

Some names I'd look out for in the trade market this summer:

- KAT
- Butler/Bam
- Jaylen Brown
- Bridges
- DeRozan
- Middleton
- Jabari Smith
- Paul George
- Markannen

Most would require the pick and maybe multiple players and depend on them flaming out if they're in the playoffs. Longshots yes, but not completely out of the realm of possibilities. I just wish we retained or obtained some tradeable contracts of guys who we won't subsequently have to replace in the starting lineup.

I think we trade any pick that isn't 1. Or Dame is out.

I just hope Cronin doesn't make it obvious to retain at least some leverage in negotiations
I think he offered the #7 last year and when they couldn't get who they wanted, they kept the pick. I think he will do the same this year. If he can't get a difference maker, will keep the pick and then Lillard will have to decide what he wants to do.

I know beggers can’t be choosers, but people doing a victory lap about the Blazers being wrong about Randle last summer should also consider KAT’s defense next to Dame. Being an interested defender should be a job requirement.

(also, the Rockets would be stupid to trade Jabari…)

I would be hesitant to trade for any of the older guys like Butler, DeRozan and Middleton.

I think KATs defensive woes are a bit overstated. Think he can be adequate.

And ya Rockets would be stupid to do that but there was an article highlighting how much theyve already been screwing his development. They don't seem very intellingent down there at the moment.

I’ll go you one more—he can be really good! That’s what makes his defense so frustrating.

I don't know...maybe you guys are right and the Blazers trade the pick

of course, several posters here were saying the same thing a year ago. And I'd think the optimism about Sharpe will give the Blazer FO good reason to value the pick. I'd also wonder why they hired Mike Schmitz if they were planning on trading high draft picks

my inclination, right now, is to believe the Blazers will keep their pick because the value of 1st's in trades has never been lower and there will not be any realistic all-star targets around the draft

Needs the right coach and system with defensive wings. I dunno if we can provide all that but as you said.... Beggars can't be choosers

The crazy thing is I think there's a guy that's exactly like Ausar Thompson who will be in this draft. Well he's exactly like Ausar genetically.

"Ausar!" "Amen!" "Amen?" "Ausar?"

This!

I'm sick of the narrative of 'X happened. But Cronin's plan should have been Y'.

The reality is that Cronin was PLANNING on Y but the market for Y sucked when compared to X.

There is no way we trade the pick. We don't have enough assets to get enough players good enough to make us a contending team. We will try to build through the draft as we should. If Dame wants out he will be traded.

More than likely you are right, but we don't really know how much other teams value this year's draft prospects. I know this is probably a fantasy, but I am still holding out hope for Siakam. If you slip him into the starting lineup with Dame, SS, Grant, and Nurk then I do think that makes us a contender.

Toronto is healthy and at 500. It is not working. Both their guards can opt out this summer. Seems like Scoot would be perfect for them. Siakam comes with a risk for both Toronto and Portland as he is a FA after next year. So unless he loves being in Toronto I think he is attainable.

Ant's contract will probably be needed. Toronto could always move him later if they don't want him. But Ant, Scoot, plus NY's pick is a strong package....... if Toronto really likes Henderson. (and why wouldn't they? ) There will be decent talent at 23 as well. Granted it is a long shot that we even end up with a top 2 or 3 pick, but it is possible.

You think Toronto likes our pick at 6-7-8-9?
