If we trade Dame to the Lakers though I want Brandon Ingram,
Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart and multiple draft picks in the trade. They also have to take back Evan Turnover.

They literally could not do that. With all of their signings, they don't have tons of cap room. In fact, we'd have to take back Deng with any combination of their players for Dame. We can trade Meyers or Mo with Dame, but we still take on more salary and go deeper into the tax for the pleasure of giving Dame to LA.

And forget draft picks. Anyone else thing Dame+LBJ isn't getting a 6 seed or higher? We'd be picking in the 20's for half a decade even if we got the magical Kawhi haul for Dame.

From a national perspective is it really that much of a stretch to think he might want out?

-2 straight sweeps in the playoffs
-No real way to improve the team until his contract is up
-wants to win (like all great athletes)

These are facts that all reasonably could lead to a player like dame looking for the door.

What we know from eating sleeping and breathing blazers is he would never actually do that (at least not yet). But from an outside perspective it’s not that unreasonable.
Yes, it is.

How many teams win a 1st round series? 8. And we're in the west. So if a team loses in the first round, and can't continue to add all-stars, that means any player they have automatically wants out?

There's NO substance to it, instead you have national media trying to decipher meaningless Tweets about a dude with 3 years left on his contract. Dame just re-tweeted a Tweet saying "Blazers forever"... But that won't get traction. The national media doesn't want him in Portland, so they're gonna run with anything they can. It's unreasonable to assume he wants out based on vague tweets and emojis when he's been saying for years that he wants to be a Blazer for life.

Some issues with creating a Dame-based superteam
a) Dame hasn't played for Team USA
b) On the times when they have lobbied for high-profile people (Melo, Whiteside) , they've been shut down or gotten second place.
c) He doesn't have a Chris Haynes or Brian Windhorst or Chris Sheridan or Ira Winderman/Israel Gutierrez writing slurp pieces on him or the Blazers. Not saying that propaganda is encouraged, but it's definitely a part of the game. And it's one we suck in.

Considering how our local sports media does the opposite, yeah "we" do. They run our players out of town when they don't like them, now they are trying to talk Dame into leaving. Fuckers

I just don’t buy this everyone is out to get us mantra that lots of posters in here ascribe to when it comes to the national media. Are we ignored and under appreciated? Sure. However, we are not actively rooted against by most of the writers. There are real reasons behind the idea he will leave. That is a fact. I’m not saying it’s to the lakers or knicks or whatever stupid ass trades have been suggested by the press. But to think he’s NEVER going to want to leave is both naive and dangerous.

One of the Oregonian Blazer beat writers recently on a podcast said he wasn't a Blazer fan or even really a basketball fan..he was an SEC football fan....I was shocked actually..the guy has covered the team for many, many years....won't mention names but let's just say...he's at every interview and travels even to the road games. You'd think the local media would at least be able to find a guy who loved the game to cover the team

I want names, dammit!

Yet he is there best sports writer in town!

I think the Lillard trade talks have some legs. His value will never be higher and we sure are taking on a lot of guards.

The problem with all of the Lakers young players is that I'm not even sure any of them will be All-Stars. Let alone All-NBA or All-NBA first team.

Ingram averaged 16ppg as a 20 year old, so I could see that. I'd still need at least him, Kuzma, Hart, and probably some picks from after Lebron retires at least if, IF Lillard said he wanted out. I'd still definitely look at every other team to see if I could get a better deal first though before I gifted the Lakers a player like that.

If Dame were traded which I hope never happens....I'm talking to Boston and wanting Tatum and a lot of great players and picks in return...if Dame's on another team....I want to see him in the finals....he'll get there easier in the east. Stevens is a coach I really like.

If they paid me >= what I make now I would be their sports writer and I actually cheer for the local teams. While I may be emotionally attached to much at times least I would genuinely want the team to get better. Instead of tear them down constantly, get pissed off when I don’t get my way. I’d vote for a number of posters on this site to do a better job as a journalist for this franchise then most of the sports media type we actually have.

I imagine from the paper's standpoint, it's better to have a non-fan(non-biased) individual covering the team.

The problem is some of the best analysts and writers on this board probably earn two or three times what a typical newspaper reporter makes.

Non-bias doesn’t exist, the bias is they don’t care if they get better or not. From the papers perspective all it does is drive clicks because they write things that piss people off.
It would be great if the local media wasn’t actively pushing against all the Oregon teams all the time. All markets have their fair share of “critics” but I think few markets have such a crappy home field disadvantage from their local “journalists” and media personalities.

You got that right, brother

We are talking about Joe Freeman. All the other writer, personalities are pretty inept if you ask me. He is solid. Doesn’t ever make shit up, tells it like it is. Doesn’t make the stories about him. Trust me, he’s the most respected local writer.
