No need to be Sorry Sly, no apology needed what so ever. Your observation surely is not funny just very close to the truth. Of course marksmanship is not the only thing overlooked by dad.
This explains everything.

Actually I meant it as a way to poke fun at your stance about the father.
Based off of a couple of paragraphs about the kid and his family I don't see how you can jump to the conclusions you are.
Perhaps I am wrong but it fits the pattern. On the other hand, I am can't be all that far wrong, the guns were from the home the kid lives in, he did find a way to get them, he did take them to school and miss use them.
Do you suppose his mother bought them for him? In the end, who do you think is responsible for raising a boy to manhood gun savy or not?
I have a feeling the answer here for most of this board, is "the Village" in regard to the last question.
But we also know this about the shooter,
He attended school.
He participated in class and got average to good grades.
He was involved in extracurricular activities.
He was never previously in trouble with the law.
He was active in his church.
These all point to some good/successful parenting going on in the house.
You've had guns in your house, there was no way, 100% no way your son could have gotten a hold of one of your guns? No tools, welder, anything to defeat where all of your guns might have been locked up in?
My buddy has over 100 guns, thinks Obama is a dictator, and has a basement full of ammo. And I'm not scared of him one bit. Another buddy is a "regular" dude, he mentioned getting a gun and it sent shivers down my spine.
Some people just shouldn't have guns

I find it just strange as hell that people will blame the gun in this case and other cases like this.
Kids get into everything? Bull shit, kids only get into what they can when alone long enough. Feral children make very bad citizens, the village is not equipped to always handle the unattended child, they need fathers that want them and help them daily. The job is larger than showing them how to handle a gun, it also includes tutoring in not using the gun, knife or any other weapon.
Do you spend most of your retired time searching for people talking about getting rid of guns? Then Shitting your pants about it?
I'm all for guns, but good god man.

This may be illogical, but "gun nuts" freak me out, even though I like shooting myself.
You said you'd be happy to answer questions. I asked before, and you ignored. Do you use one of those talk to type thingies? Like you speak and it types for you?Perhaps I am wrong but it fits the pattern. Who decides?
Did you keep guns in the house when your children were living with you? If yes, if really determined could they have gotten access to them? If someone was robbing you in your driveway could your son have gotten the gun to defend you?

I don't think asynchronously is the term you're looking for.No, but I do quite often type asynchronously while doing another task.
Smh. I've been raised with guns and am an avid hunter. Some of the posts in this thread make me have no hope for the earth.
There's no hope for the earth man. We're fucked anyway. We might as well enjoy the ride.

How about we put it to a vote?
There's plenty of hope, unless too many take that defeatist attitude
3/4ths required to ratify a change to the 2nd amendment. 38 states. Good luck with that.
If you think the 2nd is somehow antiquated and should be changed by some other process, what happens when they go after the 1st?
You get in trouble for yelling fire in a theater, you can't yell bomb n an airport. THere's freedom of the press, but what about libel?
You go to jail for shooting people.
On the other hand, it's probably not a good idea to remove peoples' vocal chords so they can't yell "fire," or shut down the newspapers to prevent libel.
Murder has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment.
