Should have traded Aldridge for harden

The trade was almost certainly never on the table, but that doesn't mean that OKC might not have gone for it. The thing about Aldridge is that he's got a pretty fair deal. It's not max, it's almost certainly smaller than what they offered Harden. And to sweeten it, we could've offered to take Perkins off their hands. That's a bad deal for them, and it's clear they're moving Durant to PF a lot to compensate for Perkins' suckage (seriously, look at his numbers over two games.)

A bunch of us were saying this over the summer. Not sure if it would have gotten it done but it sure should have been looked at.

Lillard
Harden
Batum
Hickson
Leonard

That would have been a solid lineup.

How do we know that was even an option? The Thunder got two shooting guards back in the trade not a PF. Maybe the Thunder didn't want to trade Ibaka? I think they would have had to if they got Aldridge. Like I said before, just about every trade that goes down there will always be fans who question the trade and say why didn't they trade him for so and so.

Disagree. Ibaka is their center most of the time now anyway. Right now they're playing Durant A LOT at PF, and while it's doing wonders for his rebounding, I doubt that's wise over the long haul. He's not exactly built like LeBron.

Olshey should be fired for not trading LMA for Harden. Clearly it was well-known that Harden would by the 2-game MVP of the league, and that he would shoot 64% for the entire season with a 41 PER.

Olshey is a dumb dumb.

Yes, this explains why Nick Collison and Kendrick Perkins are combining for exactly 48 minutes/game after two games, and are never on the court at the same time.

Because they are rotating at playing SF, while Durant is at PF and Ibaka is at C...

I suppose we can just make anything up these days.

Miami should have traded LeBron James for Harden. Harden is averaging more points, has a better PER, and is on pace to have the greatest season statistically in modern NBA history.

Anybody else remember the year Tuffy Rhodes hit 3 HR on Opening Day for the Cubs against Dwight Gooden. He ended up that year with 486 HRs. It was simply the greatest season in MLB history.

Aldridge is the toughest baddest PF to ever live!!!!!!!!!! And Batum would kill Jordan in 1 on 1. Blazers will not lose another game!! 81-1 All Hail the great Lamarcus Aldridge.

LMA is terrible, and Harden yet again showed why he is the greatest player in NBA history.

Our target needs to be Josh Smith. If we can somehow convince him to come here as a FA, we put him at 3, Leonard at 5, Nic at 2, Wessy on the bench, and roll into the playoffs as a dominant team.

PapaG is winning this thread by a landslide and I'm loving it. No, I wouldn't trade Aldridge for Harden. Please. Harden had two good games. Aldridge has had 40+ point games too. So what? You don't trade a talented big for a small. Aldridge thoroughly outplayed Harden tonight in every facet of the game.

Also, why trade Aldridge for Anthony Davis? I'm sure Davis' dream is to one day be as good as Aldridge. Why would we trade for the wannabe?

No one with any sense would even contemplate such nonsense. LMA is so underrated by some.

Still feel this way?

You mean this way?

I guess. Frankly, I think people just need to chill the fuck out a little bit this year and try to at least focus their attention on seeing if this starting lineup can do anything noteworthy or develop any kind of chemistry. Measuring things by wins and losses this year is going to lead to a lot of heartburn.

Yes.

I would still trade Aldridge for Harden. Easily. Harden continues to get better. If he had a decent #2 option on that team the Rockets would be in the top 4 in the West. Just 22 years old, crazy.

I'll admit that before this season I was saying I wouldn't trade Aldridge for Harden. I was wrong.

My deal was LMA and scraps for Harden and Ibaka. Obviously laughable now.

I think OKC would have taken that deal though.

I wish! Harden and LMA might be a push now and Ibaka is not too far behind. Almost made All-Star game this year. Didn't OKC deal Harden because he wouldn't accept even 3/4 Max? He had to have Max. I know LMA is not on Max deal but he is paid pretty well, they seem cap conscious after signing both Durant and Westbrook.

Yeah but Harden wasn't necessary with Westbrook and Durant. Aldridge would fill a position of need, and he'd be a hell of a lot more valuable than Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb. I think they mostly wanted that lotto pick they got. Still, adding Aldridge to Durant and Westbrook makes them the favorite I think.

I wanted our team to trade for Harden before he was ultimately moved to the Rockets. The guy gets the most FTA in the NBA. He knows how to drive to the hoop. He can shoot the ball from 3 pt land at a good percentage. And he can handle the ball pretty well for a SG. So, yes, I would still trade LA for Harden!

Definitely would trade Aldridge for Harden. PG and PF are the easiest positions to fill in the league right now. I love Aldridge and think he is a top 5 PF, but Harden is a top 3 SG, where it gets pretty thin after the top 5 SG's in the league.....
