OT Should he be punished?

I saw this on another forum and all the righties think the guy should be punished the same as if a white guy did it.

I can't even advocate him being punished at all, let alone like a white guy would be. The problem I'm having is that I know it would be a disgusting thing for a white guy to do but should it be illegal by state law? I agree that a college can make most any rule they want to punish someone.

To me a black guy doing it can be a political statement so why should he get in trouble at all?

Did he do it as a joke? Did he do it to call attention to racism? Maybe he was experiencing racism at his college. Maybe it was being ignored by the college. This was his way of calling it out. Maybe its a statement to the divisive climate we live in. I don't know.

He reported the note as if someone had placed it on his door? I don't know that he should be punished as if a white guy did it. He should probably face some punishment. I don't know. It doesn't feel like we have the whole story here.

I would say yes, he should be punished but mainly a slap on the wrist compared to if a white person had hung the sign. If it was a white guy the purpose would have been far more nefarious, an act of intimidation and cruelty to another student. Plus it would have been racist. As the Black guy did it, it is still wrong, it is still something that can add to divisiveness on campus but not a threat towards someones safety.

If it were a white dude, I would recommend expulsion. In this case I would recommend suspension for a few days.
