Democrats win too sometimes. That must be on the smart days?
It's like Bill Clinton said:
"What do you call Monica Lewinsky's ears?"
No, wait.

He said:
"When people think, Democrats win."

And he might be on to something. Not because Democrats are great, but because there isn't a better option.

In the past two years, Virginia has:
Increased minimum wage
Increased school funding
Raised teacher salaries
Expanded pre-K
Expanded Medicare, enabling 500,000 Virginians to get health insurance
Made it easier to vote
Made birth control and abortion more accessible
Extended civil rights protection to include sexual orientation and gender identity/expression
Abolished death penalty
Republicans can't run by saying they will take away all that. All they can sell is fear. Wall to wall ads showing white mother, a long time Republican activist, claiming her six year old came home from school crying because the teacher told her white people are evil (investigation showed this didn't happen). And a girl raped in school bathroom by trans girl. A girl was raped in school bathroom, which is horrible, but rapist was former boyfriend she broke up with, nothing to do with trans people.
Not new. We had tea party saying health care takes your freedom, ground zero mosque, now it's critical race theory, not taught in any K-12 school, and notes in skirts. Scary.

I bet the difference in Virginia was the Karen mom's who are now anti vax and anti mask. A lot of these people were liberal leaning or at least moderate, and probably don't pay attention to politics regularly. The GOP found an issue they care about and targeted it to exploit these people. 2020 these Karen mom's were opposed to Trump because he is detestable, but without Trump there is no one for the Dems to rally against.

Pretty close. White non college women voted narrowly for Trump last year but overwhelmingly for Trumpkin this year.

Its not just non college educated women. My sister is, or totally could be, one of these people and she was a nurse with a BS. She is now a stay at home mom in a red state, and while she is liberal at her core, she just doenst pay attention to politics at all....... like she wouldnt know who Mitch McConnell was if I did swear about him regularly. She is surrounded in a mommy bubble world and pretty much ignored the pandemic as much as she could. When vaccines came around she was very hesitant, especially with her kids because of all the usual reasons. If it wasnt for me and my dad talking to her about it, to point of arguments somethimes, that she has got everyone vaccinated in her family who can be. It blows my mind because she is a nurse, but it showed me the power of denial, add a little momma bear attitude and they are ripe for the propoganda.

Terry must have pissed some dems off as thats why he lost the race, imo.

This welcome to politics. Every topic. Homelessness, Climate Change, Covid... the list goes on. Don't want to talk about specifics, don't want to talk about it where other people can see. Don't want to pay attention to any evidence (except anecdotes which prove their point). Don't trust expert professionals who work in the relevant field... because what that person has to say doesn't fit their narrative..

It's really the perfect issue for Republicans. You can't debate it rationally, because it's nonsense.

Not quite. State legislature can prevent. One house has Democratic majority and other tied. But governor will do all he can to make sure only Trumpers win future elections.

American people are sick of win at all cost politics, and the spewing of anger with a 24/7 news networks.
They want to see government accomplish something in bi partisan fashion, but all they get is back and forth between parties, and even within parties, and accomplish zip.
Its as deep now as the Religious wars and hatred, thats gone on for centuries.
Where are the mediators and conciliators for compromise. Mediate means" bring parties together " and Conciliate means "offering of ideas that can offer a path towards give and take for compromise"
People are sick of fighting just like kids get when all they hear is their parents going at each other, then divorcing.

I guess I always knew the human race was too stupid to survive, so I should stop being surprised. I await with eager anticipation learning how cities disappearing under rising waters will be progressives' fault.

It's simple. Critical Race Theory causes the oceans to rise up in anger.

I have to disagree with your premise. Americans love taking sides and pledging undying loyalty to their political tribe.

You are right that it is a religious war, but wrong that people want to end religious wars via compromise.

Never said people want to end religious war via compromise. Wont happen.
People want to see government accomplish things not continuous gridlock.
So you pledge undying loyalty to your political side? Its you're side or no side?

People want government to accomplish things in the abstract, but they have a lot of trouble agreeing on which things specifically.

I'm not ready to die for my political preferences. I am willing to leave the country if my fellow Americans get any more stupid, though.

What direction would you sail?

Unsurprisingly, Texas governor backed state legislators with list of 800+ books to remove from schools. Not only is talking about race forbidden, teenagers absolutely must not read anything about sex.

I honestly couldn't care less about bipartisan anything. I want data backed, proven solutions to the roots of actual problems.

IMO partisan anything is bullshit, including bipartisanship.

agree 100%.....

I think its powerful career politicians that are embolden and bought by lobbyist that misconstrue data and will do anything to get what they want.

Thats why I thought it was a joke, way back, when my folks would simply vote straight dem ballets or grandparents that would vote straight repub ballets.

I see that we've moved on to the book-burning phase.

“I think we should throw those books in a fire,” Abuismail said, and Twigg said he wants to “see the books before we burn them so we can identify within our community that we are eradicating this bad stuff.”
