The Portland Trail Blazers need to make big changes to their roster after being shockingly swept out of the playoffs by the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round.

Considering his First Team All-NBA status, we're working under the assumption that star guard Damian Lillard is untouchable, so we made everyone else on the roster available. With Portland's salary cap situation as it is, the Blazers would have to get very creative with their trade exceptions and possible sign-and-trade deals to make a few of these ideas work. But sign-and-trade deals aren't so popular these days, especially when you have to find a player and team that can agree on a good fit and a contract number while also giving away assets to the team the player is leaving.

Are all of these deals great for both sides? Probably not. But we wanted to get the ball rolling and find out what you, the fans, think about some of the players who may be available on the market this offseason.

Don't like these trades or think you might have some better ideas for the Blazers? Use the ESPN Trade Machine to come up with some possible moves for Portland. Then throw your own thoughts and submissions in the comments section and we'll do another roundup of trade ideas later in the month that feature some of your ideas.

I like the Wesley Matthews and Carmelo trades and we could make both of them. I know Melo's stock dropped last year in OKC but I have a feeling he'd be much better on our team. Look at how bad Oladipo was alongside Russ. And CJ and Dame both want to play with Melo. As for the other trades, the only ones I'd go for would be Blake Griffin and Love deals. This line up is better than last year's come playoff time:

Dame/Baldwin
Matthews/Korver
Melo/CrabbeTPE
Love/Collins or Griffin/Aminu
Nurkic/Davis

You want to trade Moe Harkless (who's better than Melo) and a first round pick for Melo?

C'mon Eric.

Talk about a lack of defense at the forward spots... my goodness.

It looks like the thread title got truncated.

As if there was any doubt, after seeing this one, I'm 100% convinced it was supposed to read:

Should Trail Blazers sign-and-trade Jusuf Nurkic for Harrison Barnes? 17 trades to help Portland tank.

I didn't read it all before then I just saw the bottom two.

And I hate Harrison Barnes. He's horrible.
Barnes is horrible when your asking him to be a #1 option and carry a team. Barnes needs to be a 3rd option type of player or even a 6th man would do him some good. Just because a player doesn't live up to expectations on one team doesn't mean he won't on another in a different role. Let's ask Mo Harkless to be the #1 option and carry the Blazers.

Both Melo and Love are underrated defenders. Heck, Love played championship D on Curry when it mattered:

In 15 season, Carmelo's career best DBPM is 0.0 - one time. The other 14 seasons he's had a negative DBPM. It's been especially bad, even by his standards, for the last 5 or 6 years.

And now he no longer has the offensive game to compensate for his shitty defense.

As frustratingly inconsistent as he is, today, right now, Moe Harkless is a better player, at both ends of the court, than Carmelo Anthony. He's also 9 years younger, and will be making $10.8 million this coming season, compared to Carmelo's $27.9 million. No way in hell do I want Carmelo Anthony anywhere near this team. That would definitely be a case of subtraction by addition.

Anything other than a cheese sandwich is too much for Al Jefferson, C'mon man! The Kawhi Leonard trade was the ONLY trade of merit IMO. Sorry dude.

Melo is an underrated defender? Cmon dude...

Love had one good defensive possession. Doesn't make him a good defender..

These trades are horrible.

The trade machine is broken, it doesn't register traded player exceptions correctly.

Translation:
The Origionian sports dept. SELF PROCLAIMED "EXPERTS" are too dumb/lazy to come with a trade idea that makes any sense. Please do our job for us so we keep recieving paychecks.

Hate to say it but I’d take Blake Griffin. He has a little bit of edge does a little bit of everything and could take some pressure off Dame and C.J offensively.
