Be active at the trade dead line for outside help?
Honestly IMO I'd say no. I think we have enough talent to stand pat for now. By going out & getting a 15-20M arm is just foolish because by doing so you have to knock out someone else from the rotation. In all likelihood that would be Eovaldi, who honestly has looked pretty good of late. So lets say they sign some like Hamels, basically what we've done is throw 2 productive starters (Warren & Eovaldi) into the pen while a non productive piece of shit like Sabathia stays in to supply nothing.
Stand pat for now because with the kids we have in the minors I like our future & I really don't want to lose any of out top prospects.
1) Aaron Judge (23) (RF) - 13/49/286 with a .358 OBP for Trenton/SWB in 72 games & 283 ABs
2) Luis Severino (21) (RHP) - 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA & a 186 BAA & a 0.94 whip with SWB
3) Greg Bird (22) (1B) - 5/26/251 .347 OBP with Trenton
4) Rob RefSnyder (24) (2B) - 5/33/276 .370 OBP with SWB in 72 games (279 ABs)
5) Jorge Mateo (20) (SS) - 2/29/264 .321 OBP with Charleston in 69 games. Also has 53 SBs
6) Eric Jagielo (23) (3B) - 9/35/284 .347 OBP with Trenton in 58 games & 222 ABs
Just to name a few, our future looks bright as long as ownership doesn't screw it up. JMO.
