Should we retire Brandon Roy’s #7?

We can retire his knees and the knees of those lost before and after him.

Speaking of Geoff, I know he refused to sign a contract with the Hawks...but did the Hawks get any kind of compensation for trading for Petrie (he was traded for the rights to the pick that became Maurice Lucas), only to see him retire right away?

I lean towards not retiring his jersey...he just wasn't here long enough nor did he get us deep into the playoffs...plus he retired a Timberwolf after 2 partial seasons there trying to get a last check or two....and he's not been involved with the Blazers at all via media since and I believe only attended one game since retiring here....to me if he's not fond enough to support the franchise then why should the franchise show him that kind of love? He was a great player for a short time.

I would frame it as his him trying to play a sport he loved for as long as he could. He tried a new method on his treatment and was reinjured in his time in Minnesota. Remember, he was already being paid handsomely by the Blazers and couldn't resign with the Blazers due to amnesty rules. I really think that was disrespectful and tactless.

He gave me more excitement and hope than Dame ever did, I will tell you that.

Would have loved watching Roy and Dame play as our backcourt!

I think it takes a long time for the Blazers to retire a number. They should definitely speed up that process with Brandon Roy.

The Blazers were sooo bad when they drafted him. Aldridge & B-Roy rocked the house, and righted the ship after just 1 season.

B-Roy played incredible basketball. He had everyone in the league talking. I couldn't stand Kobe Bryant. But after Kobe had good things to say about Brandon, I gained mad respect for the Black Mamba.

Was Roy amazing for what he was and did at the time but his body of work didn’t equate to that level of reward. If there was a ring of honor yes, solo jersey in the rafters is a no.

EVERYONE should. At least, on offense...
B Roy fan here, but Shaedon will have a much much better and way longer career in the NBA, with the Blazers. I'm talking multiple Finals MVPs. Dude has shown flashes of brilliace in his injury plagued first two years. We need to surround Sharpe with a great team

His first year wasn't "injury plagued".

For a few GREAT years, just like Bill Walton.

Roy is one of our top 4. Chronologically, Walton, Drexler, Roy, Lillard.

B Roy era turned around the Jail Blazers. He was a real leader. Argued with ZBo as a rookie. "This is my team now." Too bad his health did not cooperate

0 playoff series victories. He's still a top Blazer, I think he was even better than Lillard in many ways, but the only two Blazers that really deserve to have their number retired are Walton and Clyde.

No .... just no ... I get it, he took them out of the JailBlazer era but he didn't play nearly long enough and at a high enough level to have his jersey in the rafters. There are already too many up there to begin with!

BRoy doesn't deserve to have his number retired for winning ROTY and getting ZBo traded. Even if he wasn't a dick to Andre Miller I still wouldn't retire his number.
