(I have yet to see it on the net) Raekwon dropping one also, Ghost in december. Far from dead.As far as Jay is concerned, their is no reason to have high expectations for this album and you should realize by now Jay has lost some of his lyrical skill over the time. I'm pretty much expecting the worst and praying for the best.

Mos hasn't really done anything since Bill Clinton was president. I love Mos, but he can't really be considered on of the best out just judging off his most recent efforts (although, I actually like parts of The New Danger). Papoose can't be considered anything outside of a mixtape rapper, which is what ALL of NYC's young emcees are. If Pap can carry an album ,then you might be able to throw him in the mix. Immortal Technique is alright for a while, but he's just al ittle too insane to be considered one of the best out right now. NYC is far from dead, but all the best emcees outta NYC are the same ones as a few years ago (Nas, Jay, Talib, Raekwon, etc.).Hating on the south is outplayed. All that crunk sh*t is stupid, yes, but there are a plethora of awesome emcees out from the South.</div>Just because they aren't pushing albumns out all the time doesn't have anything too do with the fact that lyricly they are the best in the game. If Biggie never made a song it wouldn't change the fact that he was one of the best around. If vanilla ice never made an albumn it wouldn't have changed the fact that he sucked ass. And pap is comin out with a new albumn and you totally forgot about NaS...The reason NY isn't getting alot of credit is because the majority of people buying rap CD's are white wannabe gangster's living in the suburbs. How is not liking the south outplayed when 90% of all the rap CD's bought are southern? Southern rap is terrible they have no lyrical ability and they depend on a good beat and a repetitive chorus too make the song. They rap about sippin on this and smokin that and raping this hooker and that girl shaking her ass and wannabe gangster sh*t it's all pointless blabering.1

True story. People in New York would know about him, maybe even some people around the east coast. BUT, none outside of that would know. I could say this dude I know named Taylor is the best basketball player ever, but unless he gets to the League, it doesn't matter because none of you guys would know/care.Papoose has never put out an album (I know that one is supposedly on the way), and Joe Budden has put out one lackluster album. People like to say this and that about them showing great lyrical skills, but unless they can carry an album, it doesn't mean sh*t in the long run. People, especially those outside major cities, don't buy mixtapes. People buy albums, if you can't put out an album, you shouldn't be considered one of the best.I didn't forget Nas, I said he was part of the reason that people hate on New York. The answer to the question "Who are the best emcees in NYC?" in 2000 is the same answer 6 years later.By the way, the white people comments are retarded. You do realize that white people are the largest fans of conscious rap, right? When's the last time you saw The Roots, Kweli, Mos, etc. get any relevant airplay on BET?<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>How is not liking the south outplayed when 90% of all the rap CD's bought are southern? The North Carolina hip-hop scene is amazing right now with groups like Little Brother, Supastition, Kaze, J- League. Hell, Khrysis and 9th Wonder are two of the best producers out there right now. That's just NC. If you look, you will find.Shoot, Supastiton and Phonte are two of the best emcees out period.

Mood Muzik 2 was amazing and everything hes dropped lately has been flames. Papoose on the other hand has never released an album and his mixtapes aren't anything spectacular, unlike Budden's. It's fair to say people generally don'y buy mixtapes but Budden has alot of fans who recognize.
