In todays paper he was quoted as saying that we'll never see another core 4 the likes of Jeter, Mo, Pettitte & Posada ever again. And I believe he was there first manager. Classy thing to say by Buck.

I liked Buck as Yankee manager, Torre inherited his team. Buck was akin to Billy Martin in that he improved every team he ever had.

"The Yankees are actually one of the better teams at it," Showalter said and then in response to Darryl Hamilton who said "Funny how Yankees accuse my boy Bobby D of stealing signs when everyone knows that's what they do!! Ask former Yanks still in league!!!" Showalter then called Hamilton's words "well put."

Buck has a great baseball mind. When I heard he was going to be the coach of the O's I was pissed. For two reasons. When he first got the job he started shit with the Yankees and mostly Jeter. I guess he just likes to stir the pot. But the other reason I was pissed was because I knew he would make the O's a tough team on us. I like Girardi. I know I am one of only a few that actually does. But I would love to have Buck as the manager of the Yankees. He knows his shit and he would bring his peeps to the team that know how to put together a farm system too.

And if his stayed NY probably would not have won a thing, he may be a smart baseball mind, but he's no winner, the Yankees needed Torre just as much as Torre needed them, it was the perfect marriage.

What make one chuckle is that a crippled Yankee Team came into Camden, playing an Orioles Team with a full deck needing two wins to get the season series and flopped Buck turned that team to shape up, but the Yankees played better under adversity.
