The Lakers' 111-94 loss to the Blazers Monday night wasn't just an aberration, it was the continuation of a six-game losing streak and a four-plus-year drought the Lakers have had at the Rose Garden.

The last time the Lakers won in Portland (2/23/05), Frank Hamblen had just taken over as Lakers coach for Rudy Tomjanovich and the Blazers starting lineup included Nick Van Exel, Damon Stoudemire and Ruben Patterson. Yeah, it was that long ago.

we really do seem to have their number here in portland, it all comes down to stealing one in LA.

I'm not as confident, playoff level is 10 times what it is in the regular season. The Lakers or more likely to steal one in Portland than we are to steal one in LA. Experience makes a world of difference in the playoffs.

im not necessarily confident either, but i wouldnt be surprised, and neither would alot of nba people imo.

Sometimes it does. Sometimes there is something to be said for youth. For instance, where vets often fear a team because of experience, and youthful team is unafraid because of what they don't know, and will challenge a team in areas where it is used to not being challenged. Atlanta and Boston last year was a prime example of that.

Blazers' road record: 13-18
Lakers' home record: 29-4

The difference between these two teams, when the game is played in LA, is monumental. While I think the Blazers should be significant favourites against LA in Portland, I think LA is still much more likely to "steal" a road game than Portland is. That said, since LA has home court, they don't need to. I really don't think Portland can beat LA in LA this year.

You forgot to mention how you have to play against the refs in LA too :dunno:

we will only have them fear us after we've knocked them outta the playoffs. that's the monkey on our back. nothing else matters IMO.

You guys should be concerned with making it out the first round first, something you probably won't do, before thinking about playing the Lakers.

Thanks for your concern. Perhaps you should be worried about your own team getting their ass kicked by the Rockets.

Why is it your concern what other fans worry about? :dunno:

The world "trolling" gets thrown around here quite often. I am simply offering my view - tough luck if you get butt hurt over it.

I applaud your bravery. Most people try to hide their ignorance. You put it on display with a spotlight. Bravo!

I agree we need to worry about getting out of the 1st round and it will be tough. What team are you a fan of again? You also probably need to worry about what ever team you want unless it is the Lakers of getting out of the 1st round.

I'm a Lakers fan.

Well, perhaps you could help me with my "ignorance". Why should the Lakers fear a team with 0 play off experience, a team they regularly blow out at home, a team with a pretty bad road record?

because its young, energetic teams like the Blazers that always seem to shock a team in the first round in the playoffs.

Because it only takes one slip up at home and we win the series. That's why!

If you look at the playoff seeding and matchups, the blazers are probably one of the teams the lakers would have trouble with compared to Denver or Phoenix or Houston. Just that energy and the different matchups and the hype of being back in the playoffs.

We could end up the 8th seed and face each other in the first round. That is more likely than us advancing and facing the Lakers in the 2nd round or the WCFs.

If I was a Laker's fan(God help me) I would want nothing to do with the Blazers especially in the first round maybe WCF if they made it that far.

But we dont matter to them.. because we have 0 experience in the playoffs we should be taken lightly. we are an insignificant blip on their radar.

Yup. The Lakers shouldn't fear the Blazers at all until we can prove we can beat a western conference playoff team on the road. Without home court advantage the Blazers are going to have a tough time winning in the 1st round.

I was really checking all the teams schedule and I was even counting less wins for the Blazers then I think they will get and I think we are going to be a 6th seed now unless Roy/LMA or Joel gets injured.
