I couldn't figure that commercial out at first. I thought it looked like Portland, then I saw Husker gear, but I didn't put the two together. The second time I saw the commerical, I finally got it.

But yea him going to Nebraska, Not so much. But hey I'm all for what's good for the local kid. Big Big Kid.

Don't think UO was ever in the mix, at least not towards the end. I think it was down to CAL and Nebraska, with his mom wanting him to go to CAL because of the better education. Guess he made the right choice, ha.

Oh, and he's always been big, but I still can't believe how huge he is now.

So...where is that? Portland or Nebraska?

Never been to either place so I have no idea.
 
No clue if any is in Nebraska. A lot of Portland though. Grant High School, convention center, bridge, Made in Oregon, er, I mean Portland, Oregon, sign, his house (I assume). I'm sure there is more too.

I thought it was said that if there had (or was it hadn't?) been a coaching change at Nebraska, he was going to transfer to OSU.

Could be true. I'm just going off what I remember from back then. I'm pretty sure that is what she had told my parents (they knew her through soccer). Maybe he wasn't ever considering CAL, just his mom's first choice.
 
That was all Portland... He was driving in Portland, where he is from. That was the point.

And was "Imported from Detroit" -- If I wasn't from Portland and didn't know Suh was from Portland, that would be the most confusing commercial ever. As it stands, I love it.
 
He went to Nebraska because of their top notch engineering program. Thats why he would have transferred to OSU as well.
 
That's my grandma's old neighborhood!

Starts with him driving over the Hawthorne Bridge, but the rest is all NorthEast Portland son! The businesses and signs were on MLK between Knott and Killingsworth! And you gotta love the 2 shots of Grant High School! That was actually his mom at the end and his house he grew up in. Suh was the same age as my brother and went to our church, used to babysit his little ass. Very proud of another General doing good for himself!!!! On a side note..... wish he had gone to U of O!

Ha, I was thinking the same thing. Having an engineering program doesn't mean its impressive. I found this ranking (yes, I know rankings aren't always 100% accurate), but it has OSU and Nebraska as tied for the 78th best school for Engineering. This makes it the worst engineering program (again, according to this one ranking) of any of the pac 12 schools. Of course, this is omitting UO, which I don't think has a program (which is maybe why OSU was his back up and not UO).

But back to the topic at hand, this is a sick commercial. It's great seeing Portland, especially NEP and Grant, getting some national love But like someone else said, if I wasn't from Portland, I wouldn't have known it was all shot there. They needed to leave the Portland Oregon sign up a split second longer, or thrown up a couple more overtly Portland landmarks.
