They HAVE to stretch Dame to be able to give Turner his contract.
Right. But Dame will still be paid at the same rate as before, he won't have to wait five years to get all his money. The only thing that is changing is how his salary impacts their cap.

If the Dame buyout happened 10 days ago is it possible the Blazers might have done something different than trade Ant for Jrue?

I could see Dame making sense to pair in a PG rotation with Scoot.

But Dame doesn't make any sense in a 3 player PG rotation with Jrue/Scoot.

Since he can't play this year, no I don't think it changes anything

We have two open 2 ways slots. Dame can rehab and play for the remix.
Not sure if you're joking here or not.

Dame does not qualify for a 2-way roster spot (have to have less than 3-years NBA experience). The Remix can sign him - but Dame would remain a FA and could sign an NBA contract with another team at any time he desired.

If you aren’t sure he was joking maybe it’s time to up your caffeine intake.

So keep him around to mentor the young guards and rehab. See where we're at during the deadline and he's closer to returning. Have the verbal agreement that if he wants to go elsewhere at the deadline, we'll trade him there or by him out. That's no downside, it does him a solid, has him around the team as a great vet for a young locker room.
Plus, if he decides to go elsewhere, he becomes a trade asset.

you mean the entitled douchebag rapist that put his daughter life (& many others) at risk by insisting on going up in a helicopter in crappy weather? Like the guy who gets busted for drunk driving, you really think that was the first time when he ignored bad weather warnings when he's been regularly going everywhere in a helicopter since he forced his way onto the Lakers as a teenager? Why should anyone tread lightly around that sort of asshat's demise?

Wow

The Blazers need catch and shoot threats to work off Scoot, Deni and the bigs, Unfortunately, Dame was never a great shooter off the catch - and with the expected loss of ability to create separation by himself - this is likely his best case scenario in the NBA.

Wish him the best, but I suspect his benefit to the Blazers whenever he does sign with them will be ceremonial.

Please. Kobe employed the same pilot the entire time he was in LA. That was his guy who did what he was told. That doesn't excuse his culpability, but he wasn't calling the shots.

Dame was 42% last season on catch and shoot threes.

Does Richman mean Dame wants to come back to rehab in Portland or actually sign a contract with the Blazers?

Shams reported on ESPN TV yesterday when the buyout news broke that Lillard would go back to his family in Portland this upcoming year for his rehab. That doesn't mean he'll have any role with the Blazers.
He’s already been here rehabbing, so that makes sense.

I'll pass on Dame round 2. Injured, not the player he was and, we don't need his style of game for where this team is going.

Offensively it was always Dame and the Dolittles. Defensively he was passable at best.

We need team ball and defense. Dame fits into neither of those scenarios.

Dame time is done in Portland.

Great memories, but not looking for a repeat.

Id be open to considering a Dame scoring role off the bench here someday as an 8th man. It can mirror Pippen final year when he returned to the Bulls and played 17mpg.

First I think Dame will want an opportunity to compete for a starting spots and see what level of play he can return to. Better for all sides that is first done elsewhere.

You are right, but that's the anomaly, he was 32, 36 and 36 before and I suspect he benefited from defenders being worried about closing on him because of his elite ability to blow by them.

To be fair to Dame, has had an elite c&s season every once in a while before, but most of his career he hovered in the acceptable range

Jason Quick doesn’t know a DAMN thing about what’s going on around this team.
Also that bullshit piece he put out on DA…..you see Toumani’s response on twitter!!??
I didn’t but I was wondering what you thought about that report on DA. I was hesitant on asking because I know you need to be careful.
I honestly thought DA was a good pickup and maybe would work out here. Just didn’t seem to work out that way. Seems Quick decided he knew all about troubles Ayton caused.

It's hard to know, very different role when normally he was initiating offense. Does that lead to most of his catch and shoot being late in the shot clock that are poor quality possessions? Last year was higher because Giannis was initiating more offense?

I'm not really worried about his catch and shoot %. I recall many years him doing well the times when LaMarcus or CJ were lead creators.

I would be much more concerned he can defend a chair as well as willing to accept a lesser role or bench role.
