Simple question: if you had the #1 pick, would you take Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram?

Simmons. If he develops a jumper he's going to be a superstar. Ingram will be a good NBA player but I don't think his ceiling is as high.

I remember the Jordan -Bowie comparisons. Believe it or not....most people said, Jordan will be an all star, but Bowie could be special......

Not saying Ingram will be Jordan, but he is the safer bet IMO.

Simmons all day, and I'm guessing all 30 front offices agree.

The only way you pass on him is if you have severe roster imbalance at his expected position, and you are also super high on Ingram.

Ingram could be Melo.

Simmons could be more than that.

I pick Ingram he can spread the floor better than Simmons. Yes if Simmons can hit the 3 yes he has superstar potential.

I'd pick Simmons, but the 76ers will take Ingram

Ingram can defend and has a better attitude and work ethic than Simmons. Simmons jumper is so bad you might as well hope all your centers can develop jumpshots.

Ingram 9 times out of 10. Simmons has more ego than talent.

I would probably take Ingram because he is gonna get you buckets right away imo and once his body fully develops he will be a real force. Simmons seems like a guy you need to coddle.

Simmons has superstar potential but you would pick Ingram because he can spread the floor better? We're talking about the 76ers here.

That could probably be said of Muhammad Ali, who nonetheless actually was the greatest.
Not really. Ali had tons of talent and a lot of ego. Simmons has moderate talent and a ton of ego.

A superstar what, SF? PF?

If Michael-Carter Williams was a few inches taller he'd be Ben Simmons. And it's not like Simmons makes much use of his height.

A superstar can do it any day against anybody. Simmons will only excel if he has a slower player on him.

MCW is the best comparison. I could see Simmons having a rookie year like him, but puting up empty stats on bad shooting percentages.

I also don't want Simmons as the face of my franchise because of his attitude

Simmons has court vision that can't be taught. He's will be special player if that jumper will develop.

That being said, Ingram has a nice jumper and we've seen how huge a weapon that is for players like Melo and Durant. He's also a better defender and rebounder.

I'd go Ingram personally.

Lebron James didn't have much of a jump shot when he came into the NBA also.

I know I believe Ingram would be better fit than Simmons on there team. They need players that can shoot from the outside. Simmons game right now of his shots are within 5 to 10 feet. Yes he can do a lot of good things but with no 3 point shot teams defend that stuff. Just put it this way I am not sold on Simmons. Yes as I said if he can make 3 pointer that would open his whole game but until than I would go for Ingram.

Well with their assets they could probably get a backcourt player who can shoot. I heard they are also expecting Embiid to stretch the floor but I'm not sure how that would work with him never having that sort of game before from what I remember (he knocks them at workouts but it's a different kettle).

I think they will trade Okafor for #3 plus player with Boston or get Noel out for Schroder/Teague. There's absolutely no way they will go into next season with three prominent centers. I reckon trading Noel would make more sense but then again #3 pick is also tempting as it likely means Hield/Dunn/Murray available to bolster the backcourt. It'd make perfect sense to swap with Boston as Boston need a scoring frontcourt player way more than they need another backcourt players when they have Thomas, Bradley and Smart. And if they get someone like Buddy Hield then 3-pointers will not be as much of an issue as they are now.

They should also be a player in free agency. Dellavedova and Lee will be available and both are good shooters. There will probably be some forwards who can shoot too (Bazemore?). Covington stetches the floor very well too.

how is ingram a better rebounder? simmons was 4th in the nation in rpg.

Ingram easily. Simmons has more talent but you have to wonder how motivated he is.

You try to be motivated on a shitty team with a shitty coach. Simmons did LSU a massive favor by picking them so I say he gets to quit on them when he finds out how crappy they are.

Basically it's the poor man's Durant vs. the poor man's LeBron. Simmons would be the #1 pick if he was coming straight out of high school, and he put up pretty amazing numbers in his first year of college. I think if you're an established team you probably prefer Ingram. But if you're a lottery team with more flux you want Simmons. There are a lot of players who are tall and can shoot, like Simmons Ingram. There are basically 2 or 3 players who can pass like Simmons at his height. And yes, he's a much better rebounder than Ingram.

Of course, both of them could be busts. Ingram could be Jonathan Bender and Simmons could be Beasley. We'll see.

And since both PHI and LAL are both resoundingly great teams he will surely be motivated.

It's true you never know about these one and done's. Which is why it not smart to tank. (But that's for another thread.)

Since neither of these guys are good enough now to star in this league, you really need a good GM who does his homework and can best guess which will work the hardest to get better.
