Simons is a nightmare

Again Simons has so many ways to finish at the end of ball games. This time with the left-handed layin after drawing contact. He made it look easy. You have to double him in those situations.

I was shocked Giannis didnt challenge him at the rim.

Zero offense though.
Ben Wallace didn't score much, but of course it's a team game on both ends. On offense he focused playing the traditional big man game setting picks for shooters (especially Rip) and crashing the offensive glass where he was elite. For his 16 year NBA career his Offensive Rebounding Percentage was 12.3% which is higher then all but 3 players in the league this season who've played an average of 24 MPG

btw, Clingan plays the same game and in his 16 MPG has an incredible ORB% of 18.1. More possessions = more shots for teammates/more offense

the nightmare is he's still a Blazer and he sporadically gets hot down the stretch and propels Portland to a damaging win like last night

Simons has a hell of an ability to make very difficult shots. I still watch him and at times think in the ideal situation perhaps he could be a borderline all-star player. He takes a lot of bad shots, just pounds the ball for no reason, and is in very difficult positions to score. With the right teammates, offensive structure, and coaches I'd think that can be massively improved.

I'm all for the Blazers going in a different direction but it seems like a complete waste to both Simons and the Blazers for him to have been here so long.

It's fine to have starters that are only good at offense or defense. But the problem with Simons is he's an offensive specialist, but his efficiency has been poor this year. So he's scored points on a high volume of shots, but how much is that really aiding the offense?

He had 3 straight years of being over the league TS% average, but has declined the past 2 years.

Shooting stats on a tanking team seem flawed to me. The better players are forced to take some bad shots because the other options are very limited. Although 15 shots per game is slightly more than anyone else on the team this year, it is still barely in the top 50 in the league. Regardless his shooting stats have improved each month this season

Ideally, Scoot will eventually beat him out as the starter on merit, and Simons can do what he does best off the bench. Still only 25 he would be a very good 6th man on a good team.
If you can't get any value for him then keep him and re-sign him to a team-friendly amount, or let him walk if he is offered more.

I am glad to see you finally reached this post from 11 months ago. I guess you finally finished spell checking Ulysses by James Joyce?
if the timing is some sort of issue for you, maybe get mad at whoever bumped this old thread instead of those reading whats in front of them?

& while playing spelling police is generally pretty poor internet behavior, misspelling a guy's name twice and then getting defensive about doing so is worse. So you've got that going for you...

Not defensive about anything, just amused to be reprimanded so much time after the fact. Didn't even remember writing it.

Also, I can assure you I am going to continue misspelling people's names in the future, that's just not something that bothers me when discussing stuff on a fan message board.

don't worry about it. If I was asked to spell your name I'd take a mulligan

I honestly am not worried about spelling, I do like mr. Stomp's defense of

Yes your honor, I did a shitty thing, but the "victim" really deserves it and is defensive.

Funny.

Hey, it's a public forum, people can get their jollies however they want, I am all for people enjoying themselves.

Sure thing. I have some star trek fan fiction I wrote as a teenager, want to do me a solid and spell check that too?

Also my college application essay? Sure, I graduated a million years ago, but let's cross all them ts and dot all them is.

Thank you very much for your kind offer, but to save you some time going forward, no, I do not need spelling remarks on something not important I wrote 11 months ago, but if it makes you happy, go ahead.

I enjoyed them initially, but it became very repetitive and there was always the same formula - so I got out of it.

yeah, I remember the Omnivore and Tyrant of Jupiter novels. They were pretty simplistic and formula

ever read the two Hiero novels by Sterling Lanier?

Simons is a budding superstar!
Ant is a bucket who is a liability on defense. I think he's either a good third option scorer in a starting lineup full off really good defenders or a sixth man of the year candidate. If that's a budding superstar... oh yeah that's definitely not a budding superstar but I think it probably has some trade value to some teams, Orlando seams like the most logical fit.
