I only watch KATU for local news 'cause I like Steve Dunn for news and Nate Bynum for sports. I used to like Craig Birnbach for sports but he's gone. However, I don't like Joe English, for obvious reasons, nor do I like Rhonda Shelba, and I don't know why.

Sinclair owns KATU now.

Sinclair tells the local stations what the say in their "editorials."

Watch. Not very long.

Can't watch right now but they're running that scripted speech here if it is the one they are talking about.

Not sure what TV ownership has to do with democracy.

There's never been an unbiased TV station that presented truthful, factual information.

You want the truth, get thee to a library.

Corrupt FCC repeals law that prevents media corporations from buying up all the local news stations.

Right wing corporation goes out and buys a bunch of local stations.

Liberals worry about the erosion of democracy and corporate control of the news.

Liberals want to heavily regulate the one tangible thing we have to protect ourselves from the government and our corporate overlords. :dunno:

The La Pine Library opened its doors in 2000 and has served as an important community hub ever since. This 8,099 square foot building is centrally located and is easily accessible to people who live in the city as well as the outlying areas of southern Deschutes County.

The library’s vibrant children’s area includes an interactive Early Learning Station, while the dedicated teen space offers the perfect location for teens to browse and connect with one another. The adult materials are interspersed with quiet, relaxed reading areas. The library’s community meeting room hosts story times and informative presentations. Free WiFi is available throughout the building.

Porn, and kids too.

So your ok with one corporation owning all the news stations?

Good idea, we should get all our news from one person. Call it freedom from government and remove laws the promote competition and a balance of ideas and voices and then somehow blame liberals. This will end well.

The local independent extremely left leaning Eugene Weekly has just been bought out by Pat Robertsons son I believe and a Breitbart affiliate...they are buying up independent periodicals across the country...new cover says they are removing the stink from the Eugene Weekly....I read it for concert info mostly and there is a lot of crap in the rag but it makes great kindling......just never thought I'd see it taken over by a far right leaning organization ...I was shocked to read the cover story.

maybe it was the weekly's April fools edition....just thought about that

I feel like this country really needs some entity to set matters straight. Ministry of Truth has a nice ring to it. Hopefully Sinclair's strategy is just one step in the right direction.

I think you both need to reread what I wrote because that's not even remotely what I said.

Think on the word "tangible," meditate on it, and then get back to me.

hehe, go to a library. This isn't 1960 gramps.

That attitude of unearned arrogance and millennial's intellectual laziness is why the world is still run by people my age and older.

Racism is also why the world is run by people your age and older (and guess what? I'm not a millennial).

Your generation taught the millennials. Any lack of education and/or intellectual laziness is a byproduct of your generation's failure to impart wisdom. Your generation also ran the economy into the ground and destroyed the country..... which is why you guys can't retire and are still occupying the best jobs.
