It now may be that the problem is something happening in the software hourly at 10 past the hour.

I'm looking at this.

Like I said, I'm gathering the clues at the scene of the crime, so to speak.

I turned off the 2nd/redundant database server to see if it is the replication (process of assuring the data on both are identical) that is causing the issue.

Denny is an attorney, so he's good at gathering clues! He may run for president too!

I'm being fully open about the issue and how I'm working on it.

I agree it's incredibly frustrating, but in the big picture, once it's resolved, it'll have been for a tiny fraction of the time we spend on the site.

Like the life of Earth as opposed to the life of the universe?

im glad you're working on it and thank you for your time. we are an instant gratification generation so i could see a lot of people giving up over something so small, especially the new people you are trying to attract.

FYI i use dolphin browser on my phone (it's fairly popular for non smart phone newbs)

also a slight off topic thing, it gets annoying on the phone every time i navigate to s2 i get a full screen ad for tapatalk but the point of this software was supposed to be not needing tapatalk because it works so well on phone browsers. can you get rid of that?

We do have quite a few tapatalk users. We're in the tapatalk forum directory, which is another way for people to find the site.

From what I can tell, XenForo does not support Dolphin browser well.

interesting, thanks for the info. that's disappointing because dolphin is much better than chrome in a lot of ways but maybe ill go back to chrome if it's going to be unstable since pretty much all my browsing on phone is on forums.

Still no errors, but not enough of a load on the site yet.

One of the things I turned off is the "who's viewing this thread" at the bottom of thread pages.

That is one of those things I was saying I might turn on to see if the issue comes back.

Leave it off if it helps. Does anyone really care who is viewing a thread?

It's looking like it's related to the mysql replication. The slave seems to be locking rows in the database on the master while it's copying records over.

I'm seeing no issues whatsoever now that I turned off the slave server.

The only downside is that the site will be down (freeze) for a few minutes when database backups are done. Like 3-4 minutes tops at 3AM.

The forum just did that freezing up thing. I guess it didn't like that idea.

I see you guys just posted in triplicate.

Did you click the post reply button 3 times?

Next time, see what happens if you don't click a 2nd time.

I turned everything back on.

I also adjusted the flood control to limit us to 4 seconds minimum between posts.
