Notice Site Issues

If you guys don't mind another site outage, this time for about an hour, I'm pretty much ready to move.

The new hosting company would be Amazon AWS and the site hosted in their Oregon facility.

I'm down, but I would suggest doing it when we aren't having a game. Today is a good day or Saturday for example. Do not do it tomorrow because I want to kick and scream and be all emo during the OKC game!

Only the one error.

I am seriously considering moving us to another hosting provider. One with servers in Oregon even.

If I do move the site, it would take an hour or less.

So it will only go down at 4:20?

In theory, at around 5AM-5:30AM Pacific time, the site will go down while I move all the files to Amazon and load up the server there.

I'm guessing it will take less than an hour.

Once everything is moved, you won't notice any difference, except (I hope) the issues will either be gone or incredibly rare.

I saw double posts occasionally with vb4, too.

I can control the hosting, the software, and the server configuration, but I can't control the internet wires between your computer and the server.

i meant with it being oregon servers we can expect everything to quit working briefly at 4:20 every day. until you feed it frozen pizzas and chicken nuggets... and doritos... and taco bell.

I'm doing one more test - to see how long it takes to snapshot (backup) the whole thing.

Looks like it works while the site is up, but they don't recommend it.
