Sixers and Celtics are in serious talks on a trade involving the No. 1 overall

High price for Fultz, at least---depending on those protections. Sixers sent them all their juiciest draft assets.

That one trade down so many before the draft or draft night.

Sounds like just 2 picks. Lakers, protected, and if not conveyed, Sacramento pick

Philly fans... some saying "as long as the lakers pick isn't involved... or BC has to go"

lol.

Sounds like it is protected to where, if it is not pick 2-5, then it goes to Sacramento pick. I love the deal for Philly. Move up to get the top player. That's why you accumulate the assets, right?

I'm sure it's top 3 protected at least and if that's the case, I think Fultz is worth it. Especially for Philly since the PG's in the 18' and 19' class look to be pretty weak.

If Fultz, Embid and Simmons all reach their ceilings on one team..... of course remember when we had discussions about Roy, Oden and Aldridge?

"Do you miss me, miss misery
Like you say you do?"
Dude. Yes. Elliot smith is badass. "Needle in the hay," "miss misery," and "pretty ugly before," are all amazing songs. Such a tragic story.

If Josh Jackson goes #2, I wouldn't be surprised to see Isaac go #3.

Boston will regret this imo

I agree. If it's just for future picks then I think Ainge is selling the team short over future value. There is no telling if future picks are worth given how many potential players are in each given class. You want a core of a team. Once you have that you build around them. Philly will have that with Fultz. Portland has that Dame, CJ and Nurkic.

Unless Ainge turns around and trades for Butler, it just seems like he's kicking the can down the street. Assets look cute, but at some point you're going to have to pull the trigger.

Or is he trusting the process??

Do if Jackson goes at #2, how far does Ball fall?

I don't think BOS will take at #3.

I tink PHX promised Isaac at #4.

So SAC? I think its certainly possible.

But what if BOS takes Tatum at #3 and Fox and Ball are available at #5? Do they take Fox? Does Ball fall to #6?

I thought BOS wanted to trade down to add LALs and SACs picks to be able to draft at #3 and trade the extra picks for an all-star, however they didn't get enough back, so I have no idea what they're doing.

Boston has a first round pick fetish.

Seems like Ainge is basically betting on his/his scouts' appraisal that Fultz isn't head-and-shoulders above the next three in the draft. If he's right, he's essentially getting a free, likely premium, pick to keep adding talent as he continues building his team into the future. Unlike the 6ers, the Kings don't look like a team on the rise (anymore than any terrible team picking high in the draft).

Does this trade make it any more likely that Philly would be looking for a shooting guard?

With the roster they have, a sharpshooter 3&D guy would be perfect. Think there's any chance we could dump Crabbe on them?

They still own #36, #39 and #46 this year with potential to draft a shooting guard like Thornwell or Hart, and are apparently pretty high on Furkan Korkmaz who will likely come to play for them next season. Now that their point guard of the future can shoot, they can also play Luwawu there.

They'd be dumb to go for Crabbe.

I like this trade for both teams though. I know Sixers are likely giving up a top 5 pick from Lakers or Kings in this scenario, but also maybe they aren't. Lakers have zero reason to tank next year so may well end up outside top 5, and Kings will acquire two top 10 talents this year so they might become half decent in 2019. You never know with those picks, today's perception of them could significantly change in a few months. Also, Philadelphia don't need that many young players, having Fultz now is better than having Jackson now and maybe Sexton or Carter in a year. It addresses their major weakness area and with a player who also addresses their main weakness.

For Celtics, if they are willing to invest money in Thomas, Fultz would not get much playing time. IMO it sends clear message that they are willing to compete sooner rather than later and I won't at all be surprised if they now try to flip #3 or future assets which they have many of for Butler or George and then lure Hayward in free agency. If that's the plan, then #3 can probably do the trade too and they get a future pick as a bonus.

BTW, Fultz & Simmons & Embiid, if they can stay injury free, will be hell of a core in a couple of years. Very exciting. And they might have nice supporting cast in Covington, Saric and Holmes etc.

Never did get into Smith too much sadly. I remember my friends telling me how good Heatmiser and I should go see them. Ever want to get a time machine?

Xoxo is on my regular rotation.
