The "just ignore it" tactic doesn't actually work, especially when people that spread dangerous ideas around are garnering a ton of influence. See: the Alt-Right, Richard Spencer, Mike Cernovich, TRS, Fash the Nation, etc. Those people didn't become who they are because all of a sudden we started worrying about them.

I read for a while last night about gender. Didn't learn much though. Wiring for electronic devices alway has a gender, and they make gender converters for this application to make hooking up easier.

Ignorant people are always so certain that they're right. They don't consider the fact that other viewpoints have value. In fact, they demean those with other viewpoints, and anybody who disagrees gets labeled with some sort of non-existent social identity, such as a "SJW". These ignorant people then use this to mock the social group that they themselves have created, as the social group isn't based on characteristics, but is instead based on biased opinion.
